a little embarrassed to ask re: bm, trying not to be too graphic

Hi ladies... I have a question to ask, I'll try not to gross anyone out.... I am almost 3 weeks post op, da vinci hysterectomy. Still, I am having trouble with bms. I can go, (did use Miralax for a couple of days), and it's not that I need a softener, but the pain is the thing. When I feel I have to go, everything seems to be ok until it turns that last corner.
Then the pain is almost like a labor pain. As I go, and afterwards, I'm fine. I mentioned this to my doctor at my 2 week check up and he thought it was probably the internal muscle wall. Anytime something goes by there, bm or even gas, I hurt. Did/do any of you experience this? Did it go away? Right now I am back to eating very light, fruits, oats, etc. How long does it take to feel normal again? Many thanks, and sorry if this was TMI....

Re: a little embarrassed to ask re: bm, trying not to be too graphic

I had the same thing, it felt like a hot poker rod being pushed up the inside of my body. That was for about 10 weeks. I had to use stool softener for about 4 months, now at six months every thing is normal. Good luck.

Re: a little embarrassed to ask re: bm, trying not to be too graphic

omg my bottoms feels that way too like someone stuck a hot poker up there and wont let go. That has been the worst so far. I think I would feel okay if I didnt hurt in my bottom and didnt have problems going.

Could it be hemroihds? I had them after my surgery. They burned intensely, but it was constant burning.

Re: a little embarrassed to ask re: bm, trying not to be too graphic

I was on a low fiber diet for the first 2 weeks and slowly adding fiber back. I was also taking a laxative seinna something.

BM don't hurt so bad now, but I can't wait until they go back to be nonevents in my day.

Re: a little embarrassed to ask re: bm, trying not to be too graphic

I had the exact same thing. I'm not sure what kind of surgery you had, but I had the LAVH, and my doc told me (at 2 weeks) that the stitches are literally right in between my bladder and my intestine. That would explain why it hurts when I pee, too. She told me that was normal, and that it'll go away in due time. It was gone a week later. She told me to take stool softeners twice a day to help. She also said Miralax isn't that big of help, but the pills work. Hope you get to feeling better soon. And, by experience: A MAN GYNO has no idea what we go thru, that's why it seems like he probably don't care. lol

Yeah I've had pain with bladder and bowel function. It does get better with time. I assume it's just because of where the cuff is located and things put pressure on it.

Re: a little embarrassed to ask re: bm, trying not to be too graphic

Just be sure to monitor your symptoms. If it doesn't get better, or if it starts to get worse or you feel "new" symptoms, go to the doctor and be checked.

I hope you feel better soon.
