anyone elses spouse acting like this

I think he is going insane!!!!!!!!! I am not able to work and bills are starting to pile up and hes going nuts! disconnecting cell phones, tv, wants to disconnect the internet, and sell our suv! none of these are we behind on! He wants to pay all the money in our bank account to bills and leave none for food or emergencies. HELP!!!! this cannot be conducive to a healthy recovery! He says oh i dont want you to worry about bills (ummmm telling me i wont have anything doesnt help!)

Re: anyone elses spouse acting like this

My hubby is stressed, but he's just thinking of taking a second job once I'm feeling better to help us get back on top of things.

Men can be crazy sometimes.

Re: anyone elses spouse acting like this

Thankfully my husband is not acting like this. Of course that may be because I am fortunate and had enough sick days for a full paid medical leave. However, when I go back to work I will have 0 sick days left, so my pay will be docked for any other days I have to miss.

Re: anyone elses spouse acting like this

I don't have a hubby to have go insane, but let me tell you, it's stressful on your own too. The very small company I work for doesn't offer medical leave so he kindly laid me off so I am collecting unemployment but it's a fraction of what I used to bring home... plus it's only every two weeks and I budget to pay things weekly so it's been a huge change and stress in my life. I am currently behind in several things including paying my mom (she paid for new carpet in my house a year ago) and paying my rent (luckily it's my ex-husband's house and he wouldn't dare evict his three kids) but I still hate falling behind even though they are relatives and understand. I have been late on cable/internet and will be again this month so I am looking for a cheaper cable company. It helps that I have no where to drive except the store, so I am saving on gas too. Maybe sit your husband down, really go thru your budget with a fine tooth comb and compromise on where to make cuts. Good luck and (((hugs))) ... hang in there, this too shall pass

Hey your fiance should be able to collect workers comp if he was injured on the job. You should look into it!

Re: anyone elses spouse acting like this

When I had my pre-op appointment for my hysterectomy my husband went with me. I thought it may be helpful for him to hear what I would be going through and what would be needed in terms of support at home after my surgery. After everything about the surgery was explained he was asked if he had any questions. He said he missed what was said, but he understands everything...he had a vasectomy and he understands what I would be going through!!!! I went back today - two months after that appointment and the nurses were still laughing about what he said!!!

I really don't think men get it. Sometimes I wonder if they puposely make problems because in their minds they think we will snap out of itand get things back to normal. Either that or your husband is like the father in the Father of the Bride. Remember how he told his daughter he is an 'extremist'? LOL Hang in there and don't let this take the focus off of your recovery. Just remind yourslef to keep breathing and that you can get through this!

Re: anyone elses spouse acting like this

Well after much argument and name calling and hurt feelings I think I may sleep in my bed tonight instead of the sofa (yes its backwards here but ya know).

The biggest thing is we have a modification on our home pending due to me being out of work and BOA messing up the first one (long story) we had to start over long story short i had to contact the BBB about BOA's business practices and it will only be another 3 weeks before the modification is complete and we are back to being in the clear (I had been without a job for 6 months before I took this job which is what caused us to be so far behind).

I finally got him to chill about the phones, the suv, the staelite, and the internet there is no since in disconnecting yourself from society all because he is scared of me being out of work for two weeks. It could be worse I could be out like some of you ladies who are out for months, then I would be concerned. But after looking at the budget and going over the fact I am going back to work next week part time he needs to breathe we will still come out ahead by $800 this month. Hes just like his father paranoid! and possibly like his mother (bi-polar)

Can I have an adult beverage yet LOL Time for a girls night out!

Re: anyone elses spouse acting like this

Glad to hear things have settled. My husband is clueless when it comes to spending. I have always managed our finances and he is fine with that. We went through a financially draining time a couple of years ago when we moved. It took us 8 months to fix up and sell our old home after moving into the new one. Not only did we have double bills but we were spending a fortune on new fixtures, new flooring, you name it on top of that. I had to keep track of it all in a spreadsheet. No way we could have made it through that without keeping track of every penny coming in and going out.

What he does that makes me crazy is that when he is home which is usually only about 24 hours on the weekend is not let me do anything. I am 4 weeks out and if I don't gradually increase my activity I will never get better. What he seems to forget is that I do just fine while he is gone evry week. I do laundry, clean house, do dishes, run errands, go to the grocery, feed myself, go out with my friends sometimes and even exercise everyday!
