I have not been sleeping, having headaches, and generally feeling like my thoughts and words will not connect is the only way I know to describe it. My mom has breast cancer and so did not want to try HTR but today after 4 weeks of sleeping only 2 hours pm, I went to the doctor and he started Estrace 1 mg with the possibility of weaning me off of it in a couple of months. The breast cancer is a big scare to me and I don't know what to do, but I can't live like this. Any suggestions from anyone?
My mother had stage 4 breast cancer, but is now almost a 2-year survivor and is cancer-free! I worried about HRT, but after reading about the newest results of the WHI I feel quite comfortable taking estradiol. According to what I read, if you are on estrogen only, you should be ok. Please check it out and check with your doctor as well. All I can tell you is what I found and my doctor told me. Take care.
Thanks, my primary physician feels comfortable with it, my gyn doesn't. I'm going to talk to my breast specialist who is following me regularly because of dense breast tissue, history of fibroadenomas x 4 and of course, family history. I also talked to a friend today who has 2 sisters with breast cancer and suggestive tissue herself and her doctor started her on premarin. So I do feel better having talked to you. Thanks you so much. It helps to know that others are experiencing the same thing. Took my first does today. How long does it take to start working?
My Grandmother has breast cancer but my doctor (a gyncological oncologist) is also comfortable prescribing Estrace after the results of the latest studies. I too have one breast with a dense area. I have regular mamograms to watch the area and will continue to do so as I start HRT.
Hi again! Sorry I did not get back on here until now. You asked how long it takes for the ERT to start working. I am afraid I can't answer that one. I started on Estradiol while in the hospital after my surgery. I also now use the Estrace vaginal cream. Somehow I am blessed in that I have not been on that hormone roller coaster some ladies ride. Best of luck to you.
