ESTROGEL or ESTRASORB?

Hi Ladies, I am seeing a new gyn. about changing from climara (too many fluctuations for me over the past 3 years) to either EstroGel or Estrasorb. I was hoping to get all opinions and avdice you all can give me. I know Estrasorb is soy based (as is Climara) and Estrogel is yam based. Any comments would be great!! Thanks!!

I used estrasorb for quite awhile after my lavh/bso. I never had any issues with it. The reason I decided to switch to a pill was because of the convenience factor. I wanted to get in to bed and be able to cover up at night. The estrasorb is a little time consuming and takes a little bit to really absorb in to your skin. I will admit though, I didnt follow the directions and rub for 3 minutes. My doctor also only had me use one packet a night (versus the two on the dosing instructions).

Good luck, I hope you find one that works for you.

Re: ESTROGEL or ESTRASORB?

It sounds like the estragel would be easier as far as the absorbing factor and not as much is needed. The climara worked great for me, but now have to change after 4 days and it doesnt seem to be absorbing as well. I am having a HORRIBLE time getting my dr.'s to understand that with anxiety and thyroid problems I need something else. I asked to see a menopause specialist, and was declined. SOO, here I am again, looking for any help/advice to what my sisters have found to be a better choice. My insurance will not cover the compounding so I need a more "traditional" for of hrt. My last visit to my gyn. (my previous one left the HMO) had no idea what I was talking about and just told me to eat soy and asked for all the copies of information I printed out and brought to my visit regarding all the forms of hrt. Now I have to go 45 minutes away from my home to see another gyn. God help me!! lol
