vivelle dot patch and side effects...
I have been on the vivelle dot 0.075 since my surgery and in the last week or two I have noticed that times I feel like I do when I have had too much caffeine(arrythmias and just a jittery feeling) and I have consumed minimal to no amounts of caffeine since my surgery. I have also had more headaches since my surgery than I have ever had. I was wondering if this could be a side efffect from the vivelle patch or just my body adjusting to the hysterectomy? On Aug. 16 I was 2 months postop. thanks

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
I started out on 0.1 and it definitely gave me an over-caffienated feeling, and i was not on caffiene. I was also talking and thinking too fast and talking way more than is normal for me. I did not have headaches with it, but I did have severe headaches when i first attempted the estrogen pills, which is why I switched to the patch. I have lowered my dose step-wise to .075 and then to .05, and now I have switched to generic .05, which I think must have a different delivery, because I'm almost hot-flashing. It also doesn't stick well, so I may end up back on the vivelle. I no longer feel hyper and jittery, but my heart still feels funny, like beating too fast and hard.
My surgeon had me stop the 0.1 patch abruptly and I was very sorry I did it, I was so sick until i put another patch on. whatever you do i recommend small adjustments and give a lot of time between adjustments. Some people adjust their dose by trimming part of the patch off, but I'm trying to stick with doses that are commercially available so I can settle on a dose and not have to trim anything. hope this helps.

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
I am 6 months post op and I started hot flashing about 3 months ago. I just started vivelle .05 2 weeks ago. So far no headaches, but i did not notice any difference at first - but this patch change on Saturday - I knew it was tme as I started flashing again. Sunday was much better, but I was ready today for the change. I am not sure if I should ask for a higher dose or Is this up/down feeling normal.

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
The headaches are usually due to fluctuating levels of estrogen. Perhaps keep a journal so you can keep track of when the headaches happen relative to when you change the patch. They are likely due to declining levels. Some need to change patch more often, adjust dose, or even overlap times of change (where old patch stays on for a few hours overlap after new patch is applied to reduce sudden drop/rise in estrogen)...

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
Hi
I had jumpy feeling 6 weeks out post operatively and had been taking vivelle . 075---So I was raised to .1 and symptoms went away. but then 6 weeks later I had 'itchy crotch" syndrome (not yeast) went back to .075 and alternate with .1. so far it has worked well for me.

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
You likely need to supplement with vaginal estrogen like Vagifem, Estrace or Premarin cream. It's possible (very likely) that the estrogen is not making it to your lower area and without supplementing with vaginal estrogen (if you need it), you may have increased UTIs, yeast infections, incontinence, and lack of vaginal lubrication.

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
plenty of vaginal secretions here itchiness is more groin not vaginal that is why I know it not vaginal doc told me it might be I am on too much but the other dose might not be enough---leave it to me to be weird. I am going to be test this week and will be adding testostrone and more progestrone and then I might only need the .075. They didn't want to test me till I was 6 months out

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
I'm sorry to hear about everyone's trouble with HRT and I am grateful to read everyone's story. I am about 3 weeks away to my surgery to remove my last ovary. Thanks again =)

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
I've been on .5 since Aug 15. I haven't noticed any side effects but I'm calmer. I'm reading you all have gotten jittery. Wow. I was a bit hyper before surgery. I could never sit still. Now I can. I'm also doing a natural progesterone cream. I haven't felt any headaches or hot flashes although I do seem to feel blah towards the time I need to change my patch.

Re: vivelle dot patch and side effects...
Oh, it's all so confusing. Some say yes to prevent diseases. Others say no to prevent other diseases. I decided to go without for a week and a half. I use vivelle
.075. Only had some night sweats a couple of times and would get warm easily when I moved about. That's it. Can't decide what to do. Decided to get back on, i guess because the dr. put me on in the 1st place, so thought I should. Maybe I should call him for a lower dose? Can it cause backaches, side aches? Don't know if coincidental or cause. Didn't have one the last couple of days, but put the patch on yesterday morning and began having one this afternoon. Blahh!!
