Help with stress!

Hello ladies!

Seems to me that I'm not as calm, cool, and collected as I have led myself and others to believe! No way, you say. Indeed, it is true.

I have observed, that for some time that I could burst into tears for any old reason, frequently this happens in my car whilst listening to my ipod. Doesn't matter if it's a gooey love song or head bangin' rock and roll. I'm pretty sure that my meds aren't strong enough, and I need to look into strengthening them, but until I can here is one of the things I do.

SING!!!! As loud as is humanly possible! I'm lucky to have a kickin' stereo in my car so I can crank it high! Today it has saved hundreds of Tucsonian lives from homicidal road rage!! Personally I don't see how ANYONE (even those in good mental health) can drive these stupid roads with these stupid drivers without a full complement of ativan AND prozac!

Anywho, this is what I did. I figured if the song "Lady" by the Little River Band can make me want to bawl like a two year old, I'm in deep poo, so I sang that song as loud as I could. Then another, and so on. It takes the momentum for the tears away and funnels it into something else. It won't fully cure what ails you, but it allows you not to look like a bawling psycho in the car!

I'm already in constant panic mode since i quit smoking 3 weeks ago (this always happens when I stop, I get regular little panic attacks, so the doctors say <rolling eyes>) this helps!

If that doesn't work, I make a list!

Becky

Re: Help with stress!

Hi Becky,
I know what you mean about the "crying while driving". I'm getting Lupron injections and have hot flashes and mood swings. Have been crying over commercials! I find chocolate helps take the edge off. Good luck with your surgery!

Peacelily

P.S. Love LRB's Lady, too!

Re: Help with stress!

I tell you the truth, the nervousness is consuming at times, but this forum really has helped me to process my issues: all the emotions, thoughts and concerns. It helps to know that there are hundreds of women going through all my ups and downs. This truly is really great because I don't have many friends who've had it done, basically I'm the first, which also means many of them don't agree with my decision, but I needed relief.

So, thanks a bunch!! You all are great...the jitters, the laughs, the hugs...it's all GOOD!
