Sudden Bright Red Blood

I am one week post op for LAVH/posterior repair and up until this morning I have had minimal spotting. Tis morning when I got up, I had a lot of bright red blood. Enough to turn the toilet water dark red. I feel a little crampy which I have not experienced before either. I know more blood can appear as stitches begin to dissolve but would they even be dissolving at this point? I am going to give my doctors office a call and see what they think but in the mean time what do my systers think?

I haven't had that issue, but you are doing the right thing----Call your doctor.

Re: Sudden Bright Red Blood

The bleeding has slowed considerably and my doctor said to take it easy, monitor the bleeding and call him back if it gets worse. He said it could be a number of things but was probably the first of the stitches beginning to dissolve or pooling of blood from being asleep on my back all night and then went on to scold me for cooking dinner last night (my husband was on the other phone tattle tailing!). I am ordered to do absolutely nothing but lay around, push fluids and then release them when necessary. My husband is also supposed to tattle on me again if I get near the cookstove. These men are ganging up on me LOL If it were any other doctor I wouldn't find a bit of humor in it. He has also become a dear friend of ours since saving our LO's life. So, I'll do what I am told for the moment, monitor the bleeding and be waited on hand and foot. I'll report back if anything else happens or if I need you girls to break me out of the home infirmary. ;p

Cynner,

I don't like the sound of that!! Do I detect a stubborn streak in you? Please, please, please rest, rest, and rest some more. And follow ALL your doctor's instructions throughout your recovery period.

When I read your first post I got really scared for you. Luckily, it sounds like everything is okay, but how about we don't have another scare? Mmmkay??? LOL.

I don't normally lecture other sisters, but I guess I'm feeling feisty this morning! Take care and please let us know how you're doing.

Re: Sudden Bright Red Blood

I am seconding everyone saying how glad we are you are doing better. Please listen to the doc and take it easy. Let's not try the er route over the weekend. No fun going and probably pretty crowded. Take it easy and let yourself heal.

Re: Sudden Bright Red Blood

cynner- I had the exact same thing this am.. Although yesterday was a day that I had fever most of the day and was told as long as NO fresh red blood was present that i should just take it easy and RELAX.. well then this am came the blood! freaked myself and DH out so we called dr office and again was told to just take it easy. SO instead of DH just trusting that I would stay in bed he made me goto work with him!. I know that doesn't sound like relaxing but he is a coucelor and he has a couch in his office so with my blankets and pillow i reluctantly went to work with him so he could wait on me hand and foot between clients!! so worth it then!!
