Pain 10 Weeks Post Op

I am 10 weeks post-op from a TAH and I am still having pain in my stomach area when I sit up. It feels like little electrical shocks so I am thinking it's still nerve endings. The people that I work with think I am crazy that I can still have pain. When I told one woman that some people take up to a year to heal she said I was insane! Is it me or are there some people that are still having pain? I can only wear sweat pants to work. I wore a pair of stretch waist pants (not sweats) on Thursday and I was ready to cry by 3:00. I work in an office and sit most of the day. The same woman that said I was insane suggested that I stand up the whole day and work. Now who's insane???

Re: Pain 10 Weeks Post Op

I am right there with you. I still have lots of pain and of course overdid it big time on Wednesday and have had worse pain the last 4 days although the today so far it has been better. My husband and I(mostly my husband) decided no housecleaning, or cooking for a fewmore weeks.
He said I could only sit on the bed and fold the laundry. I am continuing my walking daily and gradually increase the amount. He said he would rather do things this way than for me to keep going the way I did on wednesday and never heal completely.
You are right, people have no idea unless they have been through it and for some of us healing is slower.

Re: Pain 10 Weeks Post Op

I agree with you all. My boss had a VAH years ago and when I tell her some of things I'm experiencing she just sort of rolls her eyes or says will I never had that or went through that. She just doesn't seem to understand that we had two different types of surgery.... even though we ended up with the same parts removed. It sooooo frustrating!!!
