My Journey
I thought I would introduce myself. I'm 29 years old and had a total abdominal hysterectomy 8-18-10 in order to treat fibrosis in my pelvis from my autoimmune disease, as well as endometriosis. My surgeon was able to save my ovaries. I've tried many medications for my endometriosis and I'm on immune suppression for my autoimmune disease but the burden of medication with continued pain has outweighed the costs. For example, Danazol caused my liver function to decrease substantially. I don't have any children but I know God will faithfully provide children for me some day and I'm hopeful that the decision to have a hysterectomy will allow me to be healthier. My recovery has been quite manageable. Before surgery I was quite nervous because of all I had read on the internet and heard from people but I have been given the strength and support to get through each day with ease. There was a complication in which my bladder was perforated during surgery but it seems to be healing well with the help of a catheter to give my bladder a break. I'm not sure what each day or week or month will bring. I'm confident this will treat my endometriosis but it is unclear if it will help my fibrosis but I'm confident it was a good step and I look to the future with hope. Where ever you are in your journey, may you be blessed with hope in your decision-making. One day, one journey.
