Help! pain and nausea 3 yrs. post op, ovary removal scheduled

Hi,
I have been having alot of problems since my hysterectomy three years ago. I am scheduled in two weeks to have my right ovary, the only one left, removed because an ultrasound showed a cyst and it is not functioning anyway. I have been on HRT for over two years. During the surgery they are also going to look for adhesions since I do get a lot of cramping, especially before I have a bowel movement. I have reallly bad nausea that has come and gone since the hysterectomy but this time has lasted 5 months. It started with some type of attack that involved alot of cramping all of a sudden and just left my stomach feeling really bad which has never gone away and has just gotten worse. There is a chance of having my gallbladder out also because I do have a history of these type of attacks that double me over with pain and then my stomach bloats out like a balloon. The tests results showed no stones and okay functioning but I did have bad cramping and worse nausea during the test, which my doctor said could show problems. Has anyone had these type of problems?

Re: Help! pain and nausea 3 yrs. post op, ovary removal scheduled

Hi Jomo42,

I am scheduled to have my last ovary removed 9/23 [my left one.] This will be my 3rd surgery. [breath in....breath out] It started out this past May. I felt sick, like I had the flu. The doctor said go home and rest. Come back if you don't feel better. Well, I did just that. I went back to the doctor 4 times over the next couple of months. I had pain in my tummy, thighs, sick to my stomach but never threw-up and my voice kept going out on me. I continually burped and felt light headed and overall I knew I was not right. After 2 months, they sent me for a CT scan. Left ovary was enlarged and I have a small mass that could possibly be cancer. Went to the cancer DR. and he believes he can prove that I do not have cancer but either way the ovary needs to come out. The chance of cancer is really low [crossing my fingers] and we believe the enlarged ovary is irritating my insides. I had the onset of acid reflux rather quickly. I've been put on medicine to help control it but when eating an apple or drinking water gives you acid reflux I wonder how much of this problem will go away after my surgery. I know my hormones are off. I get moody. I can feel good for no reason and feel like crying for no reason. I want to know what alien invaded my body and made me so sick. The pain I feel in my tummy I hope is mostly just gas. [I love GasX.] I just don't see how I can eat more fiber without turning into a cow or horse. Ugh!-----I have had several scan. I know my gallbladder, liver, heart, and lungs are OK. I can't talk about getting a brain scan because the jokes my family would say would not end. But really, I've also had a bone scan, mammogram, and blood work. The real answers I am hoping for will not come until I have surgery. =( Until then, I have to deal with my symptoms. GasX, no soda, no chocolate [well, maybe a little], watch what I eat and don't over do it. I seem to have the acid reflux under control because my voice does not go out on me any more. Going to the bathroom is a day-to-day watch game I play. Some days are better than others. I do not take HRT [yet] but I think I am feeling hot flashes with nausea. I splash cold water on my face till the nausea goes away. For my abdominal pain, I use a heating pad when needed and move my sitting position till it feels better but that does not mean pain free. I just hope, keep hoping that 9/23 I will get some answers and hope...hope...hope...I don't create new ones.
