got my surgery date

hi all, got my surgery date finally- been waiting since 8/16 for my gyn/onc visit and then the "date." I guess pre-op will be oct. 1 with surgery on oct. 7th. The onc. said he will not know if it is cancer for sure until that day, so I guess I wont be posting here for awhile except to answer old threads. ( you will be able to find me hanging out in the pre-op threads til oct.7th lol) I just want to thank everyone that has posted answers to all my questions thus far. I could NOT have gone on this long without you.

To "the other" julie: your sense of humor is exactly like mine- thanks for making me laugh when all I really have felt like doing is cry.

Peace out for now.

Re: got my surgery date

Hi Julie! I'm very glad you got your surgery date. You are a strong woman to wait so long, I don't think I could of done it. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh, you wanted to know how that first week of work went.
Welllll I am 7wks post op, have been back to work for 2 weeks today and I just get really tired when I come home from work. I get up with the chickens every morning so some nights I've been going to bed at 7:45. It's been a bit overwhelming and trying to keep up at work is not an easy task. I find my mind wandering about my 3 month checkup next month. Today I actually felt much better, so hopefully things are improving.

Re: got my surgery date

MERILYN!!! I was SO excited to see your message! I've been wondering about you but figured with work and all you were probably pretty tired. YOU are the strong woman- I do not know how you were able to go back to work so soon. Thats really good that you listen to your body and "hit the hay" early! How has your tummy been feeling? Have you been eating your fiber and drinking your water? We dont want any gas bubbles! lol Please tell me that you are NOT coming home from work and doing house chores! You might have to win of the year if you are!
Try not to worry too much about your 3 month- I'll be praying that all goes well! I read on here that those worries lessen as time goes on, so lets trust in that!

Hey, yes I got my date finally but my doc says he is planning for a DaVinci but 5-10% of the time he ends up with TAH. I'm wondering why you had to have a TAH and not the davinci?

anyway, I'm so happy that you touched base! Hang in there, get your rest and TAKE CARE OF YOU!

Julie

Re: got my surgery date

Hi Julie!

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I love coming to this website because when you are having the worst emotional day possible, your hystersisters are always here for you.

After going thru the gas bubbles for a week, they are finally gone. Hooray! Gas bubbles hurt worse than the surgery. Yes, I have been doing chores at night, but only a few. I'm gonna go back to my quilting today since it always makes people smile when they are given one.

I had a TAH because my gyn/onc ended up actually removing my left lymph node. He said the cancer had not invaded the lymph node but it had a lot of fatty tissue around it. He didn't want to go back in at a later date. The incision has not hurt one bit. I think the worst part is the stitches on the lymph node. You can feel them pulling.

Good Luck on your surgery! Please post and let us know how you are doing.

Re: got my surgery date

depressedpuppy, thank you for all the kind words. Its that kind of support that will get us through this ordeal TOGETHER! All of us, sharing our experiences- going step by step and encouraging one another- WE CAN DO IT!!! Please find me on the pre-op boards- would love to keep in contact.

Merilyn, I love that you quilt for others- really shows where your heart is.

ps- thanks for that info, i was just wondering about the TAH/ Davinci thing.

Re: got my surgery date

Hi Julie,
It's good to hear you finally have your surgery date and that it will be done by a gyn/onc. They can only provide a definitive DX after doing path reports on what is removed although they will give you a preliminary report based on the sample done during the surgery.
I continue to send positive thoughts your way.

Re: got my surgery date

peggiesue, thank you for those positive thoughts! I'm feeling pretty good and I believe its because of the information and support i've gotten here.

Its a little crazy to me to think that I wont know for sure what type of surgery I will get or the outcome of the cancer question until i'm in recovery - I guess my family (in the waiting room) will know before me! I know i'm in GREAT hands with the gyn/onc so i'm finding peace in that.
