Stay busy but not too busy

Hi sisters! I had my pre opt today and one thing my doctor and anesthesiologist both mentioned was to not get too tired before surgery. They both said to take it easy for at least the few days before surgery, saying it helps with recovery. I remember being told the same thing before my bladder repair/sling surgery in '05.

I'm in good physical shape so I know they didn't tell me this because I'm at risk in any particular way. So I just wanted to pass this along in case some of you were planning on doing some marathon cooking and cleaning sessions.

Bear hugs to all those with upcoming surgeries!

Re: Stay busy but not too busy

Darn...wish I hadn't read this. Had my pre-op today, and the good doc didn't mention anything about taking it easy. I'd planned to wash and wax the car, mow the lawn one last time, maybe weed my asparagus patch, stock up on a couple 40-lb. sacks of dog food, clean the house good and cook a couple days worth of freezer meals on Sunday and Monday before surgery on Tuesday. HOW CAN I DO SURGERY IF THE CAR'S NOT WAXED???

Just kidding, ladies. Guess I'll probably go with the good advice to take it easy, much as I hate the thought of doing nothing over the weekend. Best to all of you, and see you on the other side.

Re: Stay busy but not too busy

Too funny, PointerSister! I know the feeling. I keep thinking that my potager needs weeding and my roses need deadheading. Then there's the weekly house chores. But I have a little more time than you so I'll take care of the gardens this weekend and the house on Monday. Then it's "good enough" for however long it takes me to feel like doing my usual domestic duties. My DH will be off work for 11 days after my surgery, and my son lives 5 minutes away, so I'll have plenty of help.

I'll be sending positive healing thoughts your way on the 5th!

Autumn
