TVH: Sex after cystocele and rectocele repair!

I am scheduled to have the TVH (uterus & cervix removed) with the cystocele & rectocele repair and vaginal reconstruction. I have read a lot of posts about sex after a TVH, but not specifically after the other parts of the surgery. I was just wanting to get a few more stories or ideas of what I can do to best prepare myself for sex with my DH after such an extensive surgery. I will have the episiotomy as well so this is really stressing me out. My Dr. told me he was going to make it as though I was a virgin again and that thought makes me really nervous. Just wondering what others have experienced or heard.

I only had a TVH so I don't have any words of wisdom to share with you regarding repairs. There are a number of members around here who had repairs done and hopefully, someone will come along to share their story with you. I can tell you that I was a little 'tighter' after my TVH but it wasn't a bad thing. The vagina is very elastic and will stretch and elongate when needed. I didn't have an episiotomy with my TVH but I have had one, many years ago and mine was no problem.

Thank you so much for replying... I really appreciate it. I do hope to hear some stories of women and their experience after a similar type surgery just to get some more thoughts and tips. I have had some great advice from another woman on this site and I am grateful, but I just want to get a few different angles to see how much of the information overlaps. I guess I am scared and want to be prepared for everything.

My Dr. hasn't explained enough to me, no talk of Premarin, a tummy binder, whether the surgery is TVH or TLH, I am just assuming TVH (& hoping). All I know is I'll be in the hospital from Tue - Fri, I will have an episiotomy and will be off work 6 weeks. He said something about building up the muscular wall that separates my vagina from my rectum, but never told me what that actually entails. I have no more days off work at all until the day before my surgery so I hope he will maybe speak with me over the phone, but I doubt it.
How long do you think I will need help taking care of my 4 children? Is 2 weeks sufficient?

I had a tvh with removal of everything and a rectocele and cystcele June 1st. I have a tender spot from the rectocele repair. The first few times I was sore after but as long as I use astroglide things are gettingbetter everytime

I waited after 6 weeks even though my doctor said I was cleared, because I just wasn't ready.
Yes, lubrication is a good thing and just take it very slowly.

I actually had a LAVH with a posterior repair done yesterday Oct 11th. I was in overnight in the hospital and am at home now. Everything went well. Was given an rx for premarin cream to use vaginally she said to prevent scar tissue buildup inside the vagina from the incision. I do have the episiotomy incision also. I am sore I wont lie but nothing I cant handle. She told me 4 weeks for sex and 6 weeks off work, But i dont see having sex at 4 weeks probably more like 6 to 8. I will let u know as things heal how I feel. I too was taken back to pre children vaginal status.. I looked at it with a mirror and it is noticably smaller hmmmmm

Hi I am also scheduled for a TVH with cystocele, rectocele repair as well as vaginal reconstruction ! My surgery is going to be on October 20th, one weel, one day...not that I'm counting. Thank you for posting these questios, I will post as I heal. I am also concerned about post op sex, heck, post op sitting down! My DH is wondering too, I guess we'll find out as we go. I am so uncomfortable right now anyway that sex has not been high on my priority list for a while, my bladder won't empty and always burns and hurts, etc...hopefully things will improve with the repairs.

Thank you so much every one for your replies. I have had a lot of anxiety and am worried about going from some one who enjoys sex with my DH to avoiding and disliking it. That can take it's toll on marriage as I have been there before. My Dr. as not ever mentioned Premarin so I hope he will just give me the script at the hospital. I am scheduled to be in the hospital 3-4 days so I'm not sure if that is a normal length of time or not. I would love if we could keep up with our recovery and tips that are working or not to help us all move along in our healing process...
