Infection AGAIN? At 5 1/2 weeks PO???

Hi Ladies,

Just a question to anyone out there- I developed an infection at the top of my vertical incision about 2 1/2 weeks PO (TAH/BSO) 8/25. Went through 12 days of antibiotics. Saw my Dr. at 4 weeks everything looked great. Yesterday I noticed a little redness further down from the initial site of infection. Today I have redness and now a bit of fluid leaking in the incision area!! I am going to see my Dr. on Thurs. of this week for 6 week check. I will call today I just wanted to see if anyone out there had had this happen??

Re: Infection AGAIN? At 5 1/2 weeks PO???

Hi Kat - did you find anything out from your doctor? I'm glad you called, that's certainly not something you need to deal with - there's enough healing to happen without infection!

I can't offer any advice, as although I did have some pink areas around my incisions, I didn't have any fluid draining.

Please let us know what you found out and how you're feeling!

Re: Infection AGAIN? At 5 1/2 weeks PO???

Yes I did call my doctor yesterday and he started me on another round of medication. Hopefully this time will take care of it! I will see him on Thursday of this week. He thought it would be very unusual to have infection at this point, but I wonder if maybe it wasn't completely cleared after the first time.. Thanks for your concern and I will post again!

Hi Kat! Just wondering how you're doing, and if your meds are taking care of your symptoms? I hope you are feeling much better!

Re: Infection AGAIN? At 5 1/2 weeks PO???

Hi Fire- thanks for checking on me I think the meds are working. Very little redness now and not tender like it was on Sunday. So I see the doctor tomorrow and hopefully will be released to my normal activities! I'll let you know!
