Appetite post surgery?

I am 9 days post LSH and it occurred to me that my appetite isn't what it once was prior to surgery. I have been feeling fine (other than tired) and have been eating, but I feel full faster and have actually weighed myself and lost 3lbs since surgery which is a nice bonus

I did have adenomyosis and knock on wood I have been feeling great.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it caused by surgery itself with all the meds that have gone thru my system or does this have to do with adeno???

Thanks!

Re: Appetite post surgery?

My appetite took awhile to return. I lost weight as well. Just try to eat healthy, especially since you are probably not consuming alot of cals. I had the same thing. I too felt great!! Weird feeling, huh?? Best wishes!

Re: Appetite post surgery?

I have had no appetite at all since my surgery. I'm enjoying it! But I have been making myself eat healthy to help in the healing process.

Re: Appetite post surgery?

Took me a couple of days for anything to sound good. Then for a week or so, half a sandwich was plenty. Now, I'm almost full appetite.

A bunch of ladies have posted the same results.

Re: Appetite post surgery?

I had no appetite for the first 2 weeks. By week 3, it started to return back to normal. Just try to eat as much healthly foods as you are able.
Good luck to you!

Re: Appetite post surgery?

My appetite was almost gone post op, and I kinda felt a little nausea, but I think that was mostly the meds,,,even ibuprofen/motrin can cause belly issues. I would eat a small healthy breakfast around 8am and by 4pm I would realize I hadnt eaten since then,,,,I made sure that I continued with my protien shakes to make sure the nutrician was there. I have been off all meds for quite some time now,,and I really havent felt much difference,,,EXCEPT,,,when its that time of month. Only good thing is now, instead of it being an eating binge for 3 weeks,,,I actually get all meals and snack in for one day,,and then I'm back to the new norm. I think its kinda nice, so long as I can continue with the healthy eating routine. Good Luck

Re: Appetite post surgery?

Just curious.......if you keep your ovaries, you still go through the monthly PMS, swelling, binge eating, irritable, etc? Wishing everyone all the best pre op and post op.

Re: Appetite post surgery?

Yes,,,,you can still have pms,,,have seen post from one extreme to another post op. Some experience same, new, different, better, worse, just have to wait and see. My PMDD is DEFINATELY gone so far at 6 weeks and 2days. Hope it stays this way. They say after childbirth you have to give yourself one year before you might know your new hormones and the body being at a "normal"....so I wont hold my breathe but the fingers are definately crossed.

Re: Appetite post surgery?

After surgery I didn't have a "taste" for anything. Everything seemed to have a funny tang to it. But because I had adenomyosis, my iron level was really low. After I started taking my iron pills (they look like greem M&Ms), food started to taste right again. I stocked up on the snack sized fruit cups(citrus helps your body absorb the iron) and other small serving items (granola bars, pudding) so whenever I wanted something little it was available.

Give it some time, about 3 weeks I got my appetite back and I'm listening to what my body craves. Sometimes it's meat (probably because of the low iron), sometimes it's a salad, and sometimes it's high carb like pasta.
