side effects

I was wondering about possible side effects that I heard some people have after surgery (or maybe from medicines they have to take as a result of having a hysterectomy), such as: weight gain (how much?), hair loss (temp. or perm.?) & depression.

Hormonal changes can occur after surgery. Some women have their ovaries removed, and are thrown immediately into menopause. These women may or may not take HRT. Some use herbal alternatives. HRT can cause weight gain. I am taking HRT, but have not experienced the weight gain. I have not experienced the hair loss either. Estrogen changes can cause alot of different symptoms.. you can look in the Hormones section to get a sense of what those symptoms are.
