Smile - Newbie with upcoming hysterectomy Newbie with upcoming hysterectomy

Hello Ladies,

My name is Amy and I was referred to this website by a cousin. I have 5 children; twin daughters and three sons. Four of my children were delivered via c-section.
Back in 2008 I had a miscarriage so I then had a d and c. In 2009 I had a repeat of 2008 only a tubiligation added. The Dr. found fibroids and removed them in 2003 during a c-section and 2008 during the d and c. In 2009, he felt a fibroid while performing the d and c and tubil.
Well, early this summer I put on 10# in about 3 weeks and the rest of the summer I noticed by stomach getting bigger and bigger. I also started having bladder and bowel problems. My husband says "If I have to hear you say your going to pee your pants one more time...!"
About a month ago I went to my regular Dr. for strep throat. Praise God she checked my abdomen because she felt something hard in my stomach. An ultrasound showed a huge fibroid. Since then I've seen my OB/GYN and he said my uterus measured 18 cm.
I have alot of mixed feelings about having a hysterectomy. It will be performed abdominally on November first. I'm kind of scared about the hysterectomy, what else he may find, and the lingering question about intimacy once its done.
Right now I feel pretty much pregnant. My hormones are wild, I crave carbs, last week I had heartburn, and the constant weight of this thing.
Well, I think that pretty much sums my story up.
