Is it possible to still get a period if you didn't ovulate?

I'm still contemplating and trying to avoid surgery at this point.

I've been tracking my cycle/cervical mucous via Billings Method (similar to NFP) and I know exactly if and when I'm ovulating. The past two months in a row I don't believe I ovulated at all. However, I still got a period. A very late period and very, very painful and miserable both months. I've always been like that, even when I wasn't aware of when or if I was ovulating. The later my period, the more miserable it is.

This month, I am ovulating a little earlier than what would be considered "normal", but I'm definitely ovulating.

I'm just wondering if it is physically possible to get a period if you didn't release an egg at all that cycle?

Yes, you can still bleed even if you are not ovulating, the bleeding is termed anovulatory bleeding.

I was wondering the same thing. I use the billings method too. And I don't think I ovulated but I did bleed, but it was less and less intense as far as pain goes.
How long have you used NFP ?
Take care!
