Hi all,
I'm 42 and have fought with reproductive issues since I was 21. At age 21 they found a 22cm cyst on my left ovary. It was removed laproscopically and all was fine. Then the next year they found dysplasia...colposcopy...etc. Fast forward to age 31.
Tried to get pg, found out I had pcos, dealt with that. I had my period every 18-20 days, so had an ablation in May. Then about 3.5 weeks ago, horrible labor like pain that lasted all night. Thought it was regarding the ablation.
Went in for an ultrasound and they found a complex cyst on my remaining ovary. It was over 11cm. It had to come out and I was still in pain.
After discussing this with my awesome ob/gyn

we both decided on a TAH. I automatically researched and found this site. It really helped me understand what was going to happen and how to handle the pain. I bought a band from you all and it has made the world of difference!
I had the surgery on WEd. and everything went well. I woke up feeling icky and in some pain. Luckily the pain meds were working. They got me up to walk and I did it. Once the catheter came out I was able to go the bathroom and walked down the hall. I hate clear liquids. ugh. My dr. told me that I could order what I wanted if I felt up to it. whew.
I went home on Friday afternoon and I think I'm healing quite well. I haven't had any major problems and am resting and taking my meds. I thought it would feel more like sore muscles, but it's more like fiery pin pricks, owie. I got my staples out yesterday and they said it looks great.
So far (knock on wood) I haven't had a hot flash or a sweat. I'm assuming it'll be coming soon.
Thanks for giving me a place to reassure myself. This princess is pooped. lol
