Unhappy - Cancelling Cystocele Repair Cancelling Cystocele Repair

After this morning's utter failure during the urodynamics test (see previous post) and the pain and the humiliation and the fear I've decided I want nothing to do with this procedure.

The stress incontinence isn't that bad and it's certainly not bad enough to have to go through what I went through this morning all over again. I can't pee with a catheter so if something goes wrong with the repair like some of you ladies have had done I'm really SOL because even if I manage to get the cath in there I still won't be able to pee.

I tried to ask questions about the repair procedure this morning but no one would tell me anything.

This procedure seems like it's all risk with very little chance of reward. This morning was horrible. I don't ever want to go back to the urologists office again. It hurt so much and the cystoscopy camera is BIGGER than the teeny little catheter that hurt so much this morning. Every time I think about going to that office again I start crying and I want to throw up.

All I can see is that this procedure will give me nothing but pain and humiliation and endless horrific complications and I want nothing to do with it. I'm not going to ruin my life with this surgery just because I have to use a few poise pantiliners ever day. It's not worth it. I've put a call into my dVH surgeon's office to confirm with him that the cystocele repair isn't necessary for the hysterectomy.

Once I hear back from there I am DONE with the urologists office forever. I won't go back there.

Re: Cancelling Cystocele Repair

I am sorry it went so bad for you. It is a scary surgery and one I am semi regretting, but I am only 6 days post op and 27 years old, so? I am wondering if you need to select a different office? I feel that your treatment by your current office may lead to a rash decision? It is senstive subject matter, but the right medical team can make it alot easier. Hope things get better

Re: Cancelling Cystocele Repair

Just a thought. I had a cystocele repair done along with my hysterectomy and did not have to take this test. And this was a very respected gynecologist. My sister went to a urogynecologist and had to have the test done but she said that the nurse was so nice and caring that it wasn't bad at all. And this from my sister who used to cry when Mom put barettes in her hair because she said they hurt! My point I guess is that don't short change yourself just because of a terrible medical worker. You might even check around to find someone who doesn't require this test. Best of luck.
