All October Sisters

Hey October sisters! Ann, it's great to meet another same day sister. I spend my time taking walks (helps with not smoking - I quit the day of my surgery.) Reading several really good books and some pretty useless romance junk that is still a kick! Also spending my time doing "little" things around the house - rearranging the china cabinet and linen closet.

Next week I plan on doing our holiday cards and letter. Haven't started holiday shopping yet - that's next week, too, via the internet! Also have searched the internet and found a couple of old sorority sisters to establish contact with! Oh - I also made cookies with my 4 year old last week! I haven't done that since last Christmas!

All of this to say that I know my 6 or 8 weeks will end up passing way too quickly, so I am enjoying every minute possible and getting lots of rest. I am not the kind of person to slow down for any period of time. I am pretty sure that when my recovery is over I will feel better than I have in years and will go faster than ever! So this is the time to hold hands with my DH, enjoy DS and DD and their lives and get ready for the holidays!

Hope each of you is doing well. I understand "the wall" may be coming soon for many of us, so take it easy and keep posting. This site is such fun and a wonderful source of information and experience!

another October Sister

Hi
We "workaholics" definitely have a hard time with recovering from surgery! I am lucky, though, as I work mostly from home. If I want my staff to get paid, etc. I have to work some. I have been working a little every day since I came home from the castle. Even if just an hours worth of phone calls, or an hour at the computer, etc. I have things I MUST get done. So here I am - was working just a little while ago!
But the best thing I have done is not set my alarm clock - am sleeping in until 7 or 7:30 AM and that is GREAT! And if I am tired during the day I go and lay down in bed. I have even fallen asleep and napped a few times. Mostly though after about 15 minutes I get up because I am bored!
I have watched some TV - Home and Garden and Decorating shows - but then I want to go out and buy stuff and get busy with a decorating project- so that isn't good!
Went grocery shopping with hubby today - had to get out of the house. Now it is time to make dinner. I got tired of his cooking. He is doing all of the other stuff around the house too. I told him that he was in charge of laundry, cleaning and dishes, etc. and I would take over some easy cooking after two weeks (almost made it to two weeks). But all in all I would say that I am BORED, even with working several hours a day!
I am feeling fine, so that makes it tough to be a good , but I am trying!
Well - time to go and figure out an easy dinner!

Charlotte and Mary....my prayers are for you to conquer your addictions!!!!

I tend to fluctuate...when I'm working I'm SUPER-PT and run a department and have my finger on the pulse.....I rarely take time off that's how I had enough for paid sick leave the whole way thru...but when I'm off I can switch into slug-recreation mode sooo well that I'm begining to wonder if I'm gonna be able to get in the right frame of mone to go bak to work...probably about a month after I'm there!

Post-op and doing great however worried over a mamogram scheduled this Fri and then see my surgeon for my first post op visit on the 16th (6 weeks)

I am an October Sister

First I would like to say to Charlotte & Mary that you will both be in my thoughts and prayers as you conquer your addictions.
I get bored at times too, but this site has been a God sent. I would never had made it without all of the love and support that I get here. To all my Sisters thank you so much for being here for me. I love you all.

I, too have defintely reached the boredom zone!!! But, I have wonderful family that reminds me constantly "REST REST REST", even when I don't want to hear it. I want to be back at work, not stuck at home for another week, but I know in order for me to be able to go back to work, I have to recover! It is very hard to do this, I know....especially when you don't feel bad until after you start to do something.

I am going to get all of the pics from the last few months and put them in albums, I used to real anal about that. Movies, books, talk shows (Jerry makes me feel better everyday b/c my life isn't as crazy as others.), and lots of sleep have been my course of action for the last two weeks. Both of my children are back at home with me now, so I think my evenings will be more exciting! I just keep telling myself I have to do this right if I want to be the mom I used to be . Best of luck to you.....email me anytime if you want, I come on many times a day pooh4292@aol.com.

My thoughts are with you.....as are my prayers for all of the October sisters to get thru the boredome zone....

And always, thanks to all of the sisters who make this soooooo much easier.......

Boredom + Back Pain = Frustration

Hi Fellow Oct ,
I am in the same boredom boat as all of you. I get frustrated, and fix dinner or go out for lunch, and then pay for it with back pain! Yesterday, I stood for 2 hours grooming one of my dogs, and I am really feeling it in the lower lumbar region! I am going to have to go lay down after this post! It is hard to have no endurance, you go from okay to ouch with no warning!
Charlotte & Mary: In a word - WONDERFUL! I will keep both of you in my thoughts & prayers. Both habits are VERY destructive to your health and keep you from enjoying the long, active life that you deserve. Have you posted a prayer request on the site here? The ladies that host it are FANTASTIC with their support and are well read in the Scriptures. You both will make it with God's help (and support from US!)
Alisondm: wondering about your worry over your mammogram. Have you had a problem in the past, or are you going back for a follow-up visit? I am a mammo tech, and maybe I can answer a question, or ease your concerns. Of course, I can't diagnose! E-mail or PM me if you want.
Best wishes to all October
It's time for the Young and the Restless!!
