Belly bands

Hi everyone, hope this post finds you well.

I've been reading some of the threads in this forum and I've seen a couple of people say that belly bands are great post-op. Frankly, I've been wanting one ever since my friend had a c-section and told me what it was. Might sound weird, but pressure on my pelvic area feels pretty good when I'm in the middle of a debilitating period.

I have not date set yet, I am thinking it will be in December (should know more november 1st). But I'm curious where I might find a belly band and if anyone used one post-op and found it to be a help.

Thanks!

Re: Belly bands

There are a variety of belly bands in the HysterSisters store, plain, moist, with pockets for hot or cold packs. You can also find them at medical supply stores - some larger pharmacies carry them. I bought the plain one. I had LAVH and didn't really need it, but i got it just in case. And who knows, once I go back to work, it may come in handy.

Re: Belly bands

I bought my band from Hystersisters store after about a week post-op. I wasn't sure I would need one, and didn't want to spend the money. Boy, I wish I had purchased it before! I love it! I bought the one with the cool/warm packs because that was the one recommended for LSH. Do yourself a favor and have it ready.

Best of luck to you!

Re: Belly bands

Thanks Sycamores. I might have to purchase one early and see if it helps with the pain I'm having now. It's been slowly getting worse since I've been on continuous BCP. Feels sooooo good to lie right on my stomach! So I think one would help now to survive the time pre-op.

Thanks for the review. I'm going to take a peek at the store now.

Re: Belly bands

I had the di vinci a week ago, and it has been wonderful. The hospital sent me home with one. I have also seen them in our local drug stores and even walmart by the pharmacy! I really like the support that it give me! Before I had my surgery, I had got a heating pad that wraps around your waist and velcros around you much like the belly band. It helped for those awful cramps. I got it at Drug Mart but I am sure they sell them other places. Good luck.

Re: Belly bands

Not sure if you have gotten a belly band yet. I got mine this week. Having surgery in February. Have been wearing it for extra support, because Aunt Flo is here again. Hopefully her last visit ever! It does help with the pressure.
