I am "ruining" my life because I am "so young" ,need some postive outlooks.

Ok well first of all I'm not really "SO YOUNG" I'm 27 (28 in a few months) and the first thing I get when people find out what is going on Wednesday is for them to jump to the conclusion that I am "ruining" my life by doing this. No one bothers to ask why it HAS to be done. To be honest if this was a decision I could have avoided I think I would have. Heck I have been through 10 med tries, 8 Ultrasounds, a Uterine scrape and an ablation last month. NOTHING worked so we are here at the end of the road. And that is all just since April. Not such an easy thing to go through.

I did a ton of research, I trust my Dr with my life, and I know just in doing this my life will change so much. Since April I have gained 40lbs, my face is broken out more than any teenager I've known, my emotions are all over the place, and not to mention the constant pain and severe bleeding that has landed me in the ER a few times for my Anemia going haywire. If people bothered to stop and ask why it needed to happen, maybe they would see this is for the good of me it would be different.

Has anyone had to deal with this?? I know it is getting more common to have H's younger but I just feel like it's almost more accepted if I was in my 30's. I am the youngest person to ever have it done at my hospital, but I also go to a VERY small Naval Hospital here on base so it's really not that hard, but the celebrity is quite nice.

I think I just need a few pick me ups from people who are going through this. No one IRL except my mom and aunt (47 and 51 when they had theirs a LONG time ago) have gone through this and it really is hard for my friends to relate to me on this.

First..I applaud docs for being more open to addressing the issues that women are enduring with a lasting solution earlier rather than later. I apologize for insensitive individuals that are probably attempting to emphasize with your situation. I am 49, and have been enduring decades of issues. I wish this was provided as an option earlier. I have a daughter in her early 20s that has been going through a lot of issues as well. I hope that she is able to get those issues addressed as early as possible.

Hello Fannilow, I am also having a Hystrectomy and Im 27 will be 28 this month so I know what you are ging through. I had to have my hysterectomy due to cervical cancer. I dont think you are ruining your life though. Seems like everything you have been through that this would give you a better quality of life. No more bad bleeding, anemia, pain ect.. I think things will get better. You have friends here or (sisters) who understand and who will be there for you. Take care girl. Hope all goes well for you.

I just turned 25 and I am having one due to endometriosis. I don't think you are ruining your life if anything you are saving your life. Keep your head up and think positive. We are all here for you and going through the same thing.

It is hard for anyone who has not gone through something to understand what is happening to you. Good for you for sticking to what you know you have to do to make your life better. It can all just go well. Best wishes to you.

Re: I am "ruining" my life because I am "so young" ,need some postive outlooks.

I had my surgery last month - I am 28. I struggled for years before I found a doctor who took me seriously and wanted to help me, no matter what that meant. I won't even begin on what my 'friends' have been like. But know that you are NOT alone. This site has kept me sane, and I've met plenty of younger women here.

The surgery is about YOU and YOUR life. If people can't be positive for you, and can't give you the support you need to get through what is a major surgery, they are really not worth having around right now.

If you are going into that surgery knowing that it is the best thing for you, that's all that really matters. Take a deep breath and try and let the comments pass you by - those people haven't taken the time to understand, don't waste your precious energy on them. Focus on you and yours and you will get through.

It DOES get better - now I'm on the other side, even just a few weeks out of surgery, and the bleeding and pain are going away - the decision feels good. It still hurts like hell in my heart at times, but I know it was right, and I know that by doing this I'll get back my life.

Best wishes and good luck for your surgery.

I am 39 and I think that you have to do what you have to do!! Point blank !!! I went through some of the same test and I thought it to be the end of the world listening to negative people. But now I had it done and although its only be 3 weeks almost I know for health reasons its the best decision I have made thus far. Keep your head up and listen to positive peole

Maybe you could just tell them that you are going through a medically necessary hysterectomy, then start talking about the weather. It is your decision how much info you'd like to share with folks.
