sleep disturbances

OK, I had LAVH/BSO on 9/27. Since then, no hot flashes, no crying jags, no night sweats.... nothing.

In the past few days (4-5) I have been having trouble sleeping. I basically have my days and nights mixed up (or so I thought). I figured the lack of activity and the napping during the day was the problem, so I have been setting my alarms 30 minutes earlier each day, no naps, more walking.

Friday, I woke up about 1 pm - never heard any of the 4 alarms, or turned them off in my sleep. I stayed awake until 1 am Sunday morning - no naps, nothing. Figured if I got good and tired, I would sleep.

Unfortunately, while I fell asleep as soon as I layed down, I keep waking up at odds times all night. I woke up, that I can remember at least 5 times last night. Each time I wake up, I get comfortable again, re-start my bedtime music (soothing sounds) and go back to sleep within 10-15 minutes, but then an hour or so later, I wake up again.

I take several medications that are supposed to make me drowsy. I also take an allergy pill twice daily with the same ingredient as Benadryl, so I can't add any more of that. I bought a box of Unisom (different medication ingredient) but haven't tried it yet.

I see my gyn on Weds. and my pcm on Thurs. I had wanted to do this without HRT if possible. Is this problem part of the hormone issues after LAVH or is it something else altogether? Any advice or ideas would be most welcome. I need to get my sleep issues worked out before I go back to work (hopefully Nov 1). Thanks !

Re: sleep disturbances

Yeah, a lot of people have sleep issues. Your body is still adjusting and it could be a long time before it settles down again. Altho, it could be some kind of backlash from your meds as well.

For me, after the first few days off of HRT, I actually sleep quite well.

ALso, I've found since the hyst I'm extremely sensitive to caffeine so I had to cut all of it.
