Hard Insicion

Hey Everyone,
Anyone know if it is normal for your insicion to feel hard? I am 12 days post op and the ends of my incision feel hard. They did go through my existing c-section scar but I am just not sure if this is was normal. I thought maybe I am feeling the inner incision. Anyone ??

Thanks in advance.

Hard Insicion

I am 8 eights post-op and it was just about 2 weeks ago when my incision started to soften up. It was also very hard. I also has lost some feeling about 1 inch around the scar. It feels sort of numb.

Hard Insicion

Hi Whindi,
You had your surgery the day after me!! I am a nurse, so I think I can answer your question. The hardness you feel is usually normal. As long as there is no redness, or increased drainage in these areas. Its scar tissue, and it can take months for it to go back to normal.

How are you feeling otherwise? Are you still having pain/soreness. Are you off pain meds yet? I am still pretty sore. Getting around ok though, just slow.

Hope that helps,
take care!!

Hard Insicion

My vertical incision is very hard and feels like a rope.
When I went for my 6 week checkup my seemed upset that I developed a keloid. She went over and old c-section scar that was really bad and she cleaned it up. I think it looks a lot better than the old scar but it did form a keloid which is what makes it hard. At least it looks better and hopefully the redness will go away and then it will just be a thin hard scar. Guess we can't have everything.

whindi

Hi whindi,
I had my SAH on Sept. 25 and went for my postop just last Friday. My doc says that the hardness around the incision is normal and takes about 3 months or so to go down.
I guess there is just lots of healing going on and it takes time.
Good luck with your recovery,

Looking up

Hey Marnie,
Thanks for a input. I am feeling pretty good especially the last 2 days. I havn't had pain med since day 6. I think I have had motrin once. I seem to feel better when my head is clear I am infortunatly one of those people who is allergic to most and crazy on the rest . LOL The family and I went on a picnic today I think it was just what I needed. I am definatly worn out though. If I can get past the hot flashes and night sweats I think I will feel like a new woman!

I was looking though the sunday paper almost clipped a tampon ad. I was so excited when I realized I didn't need to it was almost as good as Christmas. My DH was laughing at me. My son thinks I just lost what little sainity I had left! What ever makes us happy though!

How are you doing so far?

Hard Insicion

Hey Whindi!
I'm doing ok. I see the Dr. tomorrow. I have a couple areas at the ends of my incision that looks like the skin edges weren't flush when they put the stapes in and there's a little flap of raw tissue that hangs over one edge. Only about a half an inch. I'm not sure it this is going to heal like that? I started putting some vitamin E oil on my incision, including these areas, and I think its helping.
Why are you having hot flashes? Didn't they put you on hormones in the hospital? I'm going to talk to my Dr. tomorrow about my hrt. They put me right on Premaring 1.25, and I think its too much, and I don't want to take premarin anyway, after I found out were it comes from. What do you think about progesterone? Ive been doing alot of reading on it, and it sounds beneficial, if you get the natural kind.

Anyway, I'm just trying to add activities as I tolerate it. So far so good. I'm still pretty sore, seems worse last couple of days. Also general aches and pains from laying around.

Hope all is well with you

incisions

Hey Marnie,
I am doing well. I think I did a little to much yesterday but I am feeling pretty good. I ask the Dr. about the hot flashes when I saw him for the removal of the staples he said it is just caused from my ovaries trying to adjust to something changing. He wanted to give me a couple weeks to see if it would work out on its own before he put me on anything. I don't usually do well on hormones or any medication really. I am not sure why. I haven't read much on any of the hormones I think I was a little to secure with him telling me I wouldn't need them. BAD ME!

Have you already been back to have staples/ sutures removed? What did the Dr. say about your incision then? WHen I had my c-section and my Dr. was taking the staples out he said "Opps I stapled you crooked!" Makes you feel good huh? mine looks pretty good this time and it is starting to soften already. When you walk around do you feel like your insides are shifting to feel then empty space? That is the best way I knew to ask that.

I hope all goes well at the Dr. I will send you some good vibes!

Wendy
