Tampons???

Not the first time I heard this... But today after my doc mentioned it again I got to thinking...
But he said.. "No tampons or sex till 6 weeks out"... Well ya no sex... But not till we were leaving the docs office did it dawn on me that tampons were mentioned.... Why would I use a tampon? I have no use for them ever again... Am I missing something with tampons?

Re: Tampons???

Atanis,

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing. I guess some sisters might bleed a bit after surgery and don't want to wear a pad?? I am 7 days post op and I bleed every now and then but nothing that hardly warrants a pad, much less a tampon! It's just there when I wipe.

No more tampons for me lol! Knowing I will be period free is helping me deal with the pain and swelly belly!

Re: Tampons???

Yep, can be some bleeding from the surgery, but most likely not enough to need anything but a pad for a day or two. After that, panty liners should suffice.

Re: Tampons???

im thinking that he had some silly patient use them after surgery, and now he just has to warn everyone he talks to.

Re: Tampons???

I thought I was done with pads, too, but ended up having to buy some for the bleeding I've experienced since my surgery on 10/11. The doctor's nurse told me it was normal.

Re: Tampons???

I wondered about the tampon thing as well when my docotor told me no tampons. I thought to myself of COURSE no tampons that was the point!

Re: Tampons???

Some women will have discharge. They are used to wearing tampons so the doctor wants to make sure they only wear pads.

Re: Tampons???

I know my body is trying to heal, but it bums me out not being able to wear tampons for the post op bleeding I am having. It would be so much simpler! Even though I am wearing the ultra thin pads, it is still something constantly "down there", which can be irritating to the skin. Where as a tampon is internal, and I can't feel it. I wish I knew how long post op bleeding lasts, so I could look forward to the light at the end of that tunnel. But God is good, and I am praising Him for taking care of me, this is a new chapter in my life, and is still better than the bleeding I have been having before.

The best is yet to come!

Re: Tampons???

I am almost 5 weeks out, and I haven't had to use a pad or pantyliner in about 3 weeks... there was just a slight pink tinge when I wiped. Even after my first internal (at 4 week check up) I didn't need a pad. There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel, and it's NOT a train !
