Tummy tuck anyone?

Hi ladies!! It has been a long while since I have posted on Hystersisters! Its hard to believe its been 6 years since my hyst! Wow! Since my hyst I have lost 60 lbs! Which, led me to having a tummy tuck, but oh what a jouney that has been! When I had my tuck I weighed 170, and I ws thrilled, that was down from the 210 I was. I had maintained that weight for over a year, so I started looking into having the tummy tuck. I found a plastic surgeon who I thought was gonna give me my dream, a flat tummy after all these years. So, I scheduled my date and payed my monies and on 3-31-10, I had my tuck. Thought everything was great until about 2-3 months post-op I thought, hmmmm I am poochier than I thought I would be after this surgery. I went and saw my surgeon and expressed my concerns to him. He tells me, well, if you lose 15-20 lbs it will help your results and the poochy-ness. At first I was mad, then I decided I would lose the 15-20. Well, I did. I went back to see my surgeon, still poochy, the weight loss didnt help, matter a fact, I didnt really lose any off my tummy, my boobs, thighs and butt just disappeared. UGH! Didnt want to lose those parts of me! I liked being curvy. I didnt have the tuck to be a scrawny girl! My surgeon tells me, How about you losing another 15-20 lbs! Then I would weigh 130! I am 5'9, I do NOT want to weigh 130. I think I look to thin at the 149 I am now. I have seen another plastic surgeon for a second opinion and he said that losing or gaining weight at this point wouldnt help my results. He said my surgeon that did my tuck wsnt agressive enough and that I absoultely should have had lipo. Anyway ........ I am having the tuck re-done sometime in the next year, but I am terrified of gaining weight now, even though I would like to gain about 10 lbs before I have the second tuck. Then I worry about weight and such as I age, you know, the whole middle age spread thing .....

Before I get anymore long winded, has anyone here had a tummy tuck and how do you like your results and have you gained or lost weight since your tuck, and how has it affect your results?

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Re: Tummy tuck anyone?

Hi,

What an ordeal you have had; you poor thing! I had a tummy tuck about 3 years ago, which was about 4 years after my hyst. I was not really overweight; however my muscles were permanently stretched out due to the years of endo making me so extremely bloated, that I looked like I was pregnant all the time. I had what they called a mini-tummy tuck, and I had a little lipo also. I wish though I would have had the full. The idea was the scar was supposed to be much smaller, but the Dr did a bad job and the scar is almost as large but I don't have as flat of a belly as I would with the full. It took me almost a year to see the full results. I almost went back for a re-do because I was still puffy, but eventually I got flatter. My weight tends to fluctuate about 20 pounds regularly and I find that the weight mostly stays away from my belly area, however my waist gets bigger (along with hips and butt!), I will get somewhat of a rounder stomach, but never really a pooch or rolls like before. For the most part the results were good; I envisioned better, but I think it was because I got the "mini". And I recently decided to get a big pretty, feminine tattoo to cover the giant scar! So now no one will ever know my secret!

Good luck!
