Hormone Questions!

I guess I'm still clueless on hormones and how they work. I had my uterus taking out about 9 years ago and just had my ovaries taken out about 8 months ago. I've been on the V-Dot 0.1 for the last few months and I "think" its working. I don't have hot flashes, but I don't always feel right.
Do I need to take progesterone still even if I don't have my ovaries? I keep reading about women who have lost weight once they added progesterone to their estrogen. I've gained about 10 pounds since my surgery and am staying steady where I am, but with all the working out I do, I can't budge on the scale.
I'm wondering if progesterone would help?

Also, if I go to the Dr. can they check my hormones levels to see if they are low are high?

Finally, I was wearing the V-dot on my abdomen, but read that putting it on my backside gives you more estrogen so I tried it. Now I'm having mini-hot flashes. I thought you got a little more estrogen if you wear it on your backside.

I appreciate the help. I don't have a Dr. to help me with these questions, but I"m trying to find one.

Re: Hormone Questions!

For what it's worth, I gained weight on progesterone. 20lbs to be more precise. In some women it can promote weight gain so be aware of that.

If you still want to try progesterone you can buy it OTC and see how it makes you feel.

Re: Hormone Questions!

You might be having hot flashes because you are getting more estrogen right now and your system needs to get use to. Or also now that you have more estrogen it is making the lack of progesterone more pronounced. Look around here for more articles on about this. Here is one that I always double check. By now I should have it down pat. http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/hsa...=97238&print=1

I am still working trying to find my perfect combo. Good Luck
