Smile - So happy I found others with prolapse! So happy I found others with prolapse!

Hi all!
I just wanted to say hi and how happy I am to find others that are suffering through the same prolapse issues that I am! I had my TVH when I was 23 because of uterine prolapse and have tried to find support groups but no one else had any prolapse issues. All of their hyst. issues were because of endometriosis, nothing that I could relate to. Sorry for all of you that you have do deal with this but I'm glad to meet others that I can relate to.

Re: So happy I found others with prolapse!

I know what you mean. I'm glad others can relate to the same issues I'm having, it's been so frustrating not knowing what was wrong with me. I know my body and I knew something wasn't right. At least here I know i have the support of others who know what I'm going through.

Re: So happy I found others with prolapse!

I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy and bladder sling done on Dec. 21 for my prolapsed uterus and bladder. It was a shock when I found it since no one else I know my age has gone through this.

Glad you found some support!

This year I had vaginal prolapse (it had completely fallen out.) and my bladder was also falling out. I had a prceedure called uplift to take care of the vaginal prolapse and had a perinealplasty and a mesh bladder sling put in. I have gotten 2 bladder infections in less than a month and I think I'm on my 3rd so I went to the DR. yesterday. Urine didn't show infection but I'm feeling more symptoms today so it might be an infection. He checked the sling and said that there was no mesh showing but I was irritated at the sling site. I really hope that we can find something to help it because I'd hate to have to have surgery again shortly to remove the sling. We'll have to see.

My vigina is also falling out, but I am quite fearful of surgery because I don't have any pain. I am so confused about whether or not I should wait since I have no problems (AT ALL). What do do - just don't know.

Re: So happy I found others with prolapse!

I was glad to read your post as you seem to have had the same problem that I currently have.
My bladder and utereus are falling and my vigina is prolapsing out in a quite noticable way; however, I don't have any problems - no bladder control issues, no pain during intercourse, no infections, and no other problems. My concern is that after surgery I will have pain for the rest of my life and I am thinking of canceling my surgery. HOwver, my doctor says that the tissues that is protuding wasn't meant to be outside of the body - so I just shove it back up from time to time. When I go to a doctore, they want to operate. Wish I knew what to do.

Re: So happy I found others with prolapse!

Blackhawk, that's wonderful that you aren't having pain or any other issues!! Honestly if I hadn't had so much pain with it, I probably wouldn't have had the surgeries. I'm not a dr. so I have no idea what would happen if just left, but I think that it is a huge blessing for you to be having no issues with pain or bladder control because of it. Good luck with your decision. I don't regret having the surgeries done since it really has improved my quality of life, but when I was trying to make my decision about having a hysterectomy, I felt that I had to justify it to EVERYONE including myself. I come from a large family and was taught that birth control was bad, I shouldn't limit my family. That put a lot of pressure on my decision. I made my choice with my husbands support and haven't looked back. It was what was right for me and my family.
I haven't had problems with pain for the most part since the surgery was done and honestly sex has been better since having it done. I actually have had more orgasms in the 3 years since I've had the TVH than I did in the previous 4 years of marriage combined. Lots of hugs for you!

Re: So happy I found others with prolapse!

Blackhawk, TVH stands for total vaginal hysterectomy. They did it all through tha vagina because they also had to tac up my bladder and rectum. I was 23 when I had it done.
