How long does it take dissolving stitches to actual dissolve?

I realize that I'm only 3-1/2 weeks post op and my incisions from my Da Vinci surgery are healing. I can feel just a tiny piece of stitch sticking out of 2 of my incisions. One of these is a bit irritating as it rubs against my shirt as I move. Should I not worry about it? How long does it take for stitches to disolve...really?

Re: How long does it take dissolving stitches to actual dissolve?

I had that on two of my incisions and had to finally go back to my dr. and she clipped them and then told me to put neosporin on them for a few days until they healed up.
I had let them go for several weeks but the end of the one incision was looking like it was festering in there and I did not want to do something I shouldn't, so that is why I went back to her.
As it turns out, that was my 6 week date and I had not been scheduled for another check-up, but she checked me and I was still not healed enough for intercourse. Glad I went and found out because three weeks before that she had told me to give it another 2-3 weeks and I could resume all activities. So, now I am sort of afraid to resume sexual relations just because I might still not be healed up completely.
