LAVH healing compared to appendectomy healing

I got to thinking about it and back in 2006 when I had my appendectomy it was also being assisted by my OB/GYN to "clean" the endometriosis so it was all done Laprascopically. I had three small incisions: 1 in belly button, 1 at pubic line and 1 on the lower left side of my belly...they ended up pulling my appendix through my belly button. That by far was worse than any other laps and my c-section last year. It almost felt like the pulled all of my insides through my belly button and then shoved them back in. However I recall it taking about a week or so to feel really good. I was back to work at 3 weeks.

Would it be fair to say that this will be similar or a bit more extensive because more is being taking out???

Just trying to prepare myself and think positive!

Re: LAVH healing compared to appendectomy healing

Hi Jigger. I can definetely relate to your question. I had an emergency appendectomy a little over 2 months before I was scheduled for my LAVH. My hyst was 6 days ago. So far from my own personal experience it is taking longer to get back on my feet this time. Before I was able to ride to town with my DH within a week, even though it would tire me out. Now I get winded walking to the kitchen from my bedroom and if I sit up too long I get dizzy. I will tell you that the pain isn't as bad as I had thought it might be and I haven't had a hot flash yet either, not looking forward to that. I had also had 2 surgeries in the past for enodmetriosis. The best advice that I was given and have followed was to take the pain med when I was suppose to, at least for the first couple of days, this will help keep you relaxed so that you don't hurt yourself.
Just remember to take it easy and you'll be fine. Your imagination is usually worse than the reality.
