Unhappy - Vaginal Dryness Vaginal Dryness

I am having major problems with this issue. I have the "want to" but my vagina seems to think otherwise. I'm in a wonderful relationship and in the begining I had no problems, but as time has passed I seem to never be ready down there when the moment comes. I have tried all kinds of lubrication, but they wear out in the middle of sex or don't really work at all. It's embarrassing and I don't want my boyfriend to think I'm not interested in sex when I am.. PLEASE HELP!

Re: Vaginal Dryness

Maybe you need more estrogen in that area. You might check with your doctor to see if vaginal estrogen would help you. I have been using vaginal estrogen for years and it sure helps the dryness.

Re: Vaginal Dryness

I'm having the same problems and it just seems to be getting worse. Astroglide used to work but I joke with my husband that it seems nowadays I need to apply it internally. Sadly, that's not a joke I'm going to see the doctor!

Re: Vaginal Dryness

I kept hearing about vaginal estrogen here, and luckily, according to my doc., I didn't wait too long (apparently, the longer you wait, the higher the chance for the drying to become more severe or for atrophy to start, and that has a longer recovery time with some never getting back to 100% of where they were.) It doesn't have the same side effects as systemic estrogen, as apparently very little is absorbed, if any. it's worth asking your doc. or at least doing some searching on this site about. :-)

Re: Vaginal Dryness

I had this problem. Doctor put me on Premarin creme. If you have qualms about any form of hormone, my general doctor and gynecologist both assured me that this stays right within the area so there's no or little long-term risk. Don't have to use it all the time, either.

Re: Vaginal Dryness

I have this same problem, with the added feeling of what seems to be a bladder infection coming on. I tried estriol, but I had a severe burning, allergic reaction to it.
My doctor prescribed Premarin vaginal cream, to be used 3x a week, and adjust if needed. I find using it 2x a week works. Plus it gets rid of the bladder infection feeling.

Re: Vaginal Dryness

I agree to the bladder infection feeling. When I let it get kind of bad, my doctor actually prescribed some antibiotics and then that one-time yeast infection tablet.

First time I had this happened I used one of the Monostat type products and BURNED/IRRITATED myself very badly. My doctor actually saw the after effects.
