Re: Clothes after surgery

I had a TAH but my cut was a horizontal bikini cut..they reused the same one as my c-section. I wore sweatpants home and they are about 1 size larger than I should be in but its ok because I didn't want anything to dig in my tummy. Regardless of the cut...its still VERY uncomfortable.

Jeans...hmmm...I can get into my jeans because I am a fluffy sister anyway and my tummy was already big LOL! Its just now tender to the touch. I would rather not be in them though so it's leggings and sweats. But I am still at home too...only ventured outside for the first time 2 days ago. I am taking it slow because I want to heal properly.

Good luck!

Re: Clothes after surgery

Hi, I wore some hanes elastic band sweatpants that were a little on the loose side to the hospital and back, since then I either wear flannel pajama pants or sweatpants, I am 2 weeks post op and a little poofy around the middle since the surgery and dont really feel like having anything dig into my belly, I had LSH so I only have 3 very small incisions but still want to be comfortable, but when I return to work I will have to return to my cotton khakis that were a little loose before surgery so hopefully they will be comfortable then too!

Re: Clothes after surgery

I was stuck with the swell belly for 5 months so I bought new clothes. I was in my nightgown for the first few weeks & then drawn string pants. The inflammation depends on the person. Best wishes to you.

Re: Clothes after surgery

oy, I'm glad I had other options than sweatpants, even with the AC on here, it's still too hot to wear sweats!

Re: Clothes after surgery

I've been wearing track pants. The weather is getting cooler, so I need to shop for some warmer pants with elastic waistbands. I need something dressy, too. In 3 weeks, I'll be working a conference in Vegas & on the go from 7 am till about midnight. The slacks I have won't work for that.

Re: Clothes after surgery

I stocked up on inexpensive nightgowns to avoid anything at the waist, but that was silly, since my incision is in the hairline, and I was able to wear 2-piece jammies as well. Lived in sundresses for the most part, but I had my surgery in September in superhot Arizona. Jeans were a challenge for quite a few weeks, I started slowly with a larger pair (the fat pants, if you will) and they were fine for a short while. I'm at week 10 today (yeah!) and almost no pain at the incision and surrounding areas. Dress pants are fine, for some reason, I guess the rough material of the denim and the zippers, or some of my lowslung jeans don't feel so comfy.

Re: Clothes after surgery

My issue isn't the incision, but anything tight around tummy or waist causes pressure. Even with a loose waistband, I have to be careful of how I sit. If I lean forward too long at the computer, it causes pressure & swelling.

Re: Clothes after surgery

I had to stay in night gowns because I had the same problem. Inside my house I could wear sun dresses but it was November so I had leg warmers & an electric blanket.

Re: Clothes after surgery

Hey NoSaints! First week, extra large nightgowns and sleep shirts, then I transitioned to Maternity Jeans, They make them really cute now, even have pockets in the front. I found some at a thrift store so I will re-donate after I get back into my regular clothes, Try em you will not believe how comfortable AND nice looking they are, just pair them with a loose shirt. Good Luck!!
