strange nightsweat and discharge

I am on my 4 week mark from my TAH today, and when I was admitted I had my period. So if i still had a uterus I would most likely be having my period again now. Last night I woke up swimming in my own sweat, like I normally do the day before I get my period. Today I had strange discharge, dark yellow kinda like puss, but no smell to it.....Just wondering if anyone has any idea if this is my uterusfree period or if it can have other causes......

Re: strange nightsweat and discharge

mojavi,

I am a little over 3 weeks postop and my discharge went from slight pink to brownish to dark yellow. I am still having the dark yellowish discharge, also no smell, and wear a pantyliner. I believe that its all part of healing though...from what I have been reading on the posts. Did you keep your cervix? I don't think you would have even "mini-periods" without a cervix.

Lets see what others have to say tho.

I'd check with your doctor regarding the yellow discharge cuz I don't think this has anything to do with periods whatsoever. As for the night sweat, yup...I too have had those kind of nights...pjs completely drenched. Did you keep your ovaries? If so, they are probably still asleep as my ovary is as well. My doctor told me that it can take a couple of months for it to wake up and start working again and then the night sweats should go away then as your hormones will be regulated again.

The thing is I have not had ANY discharge other than some fresh blood the first two days after surgery. My cervix was removed, I was just thinking that if my ovaries is telling my body this is period-time maybe my vagina is shedding some discharge to compensate or something? I really have no clue...

I DID keep my ovaries...but I always had this kind of night sweats just before my periods before they removed my uterus so I cannot exactly think it has to do with lack of hormones?????? And since this is the time of month when I normally would have had my periods it seems more like something related to that, but then agian Im asking because I need others opinions and I hope you are not right although I really appreciate your reply

Mojavi,

Check out the hysterectomy checkpoints for weeks 3/4. It said that around this time, you might start spotting because of the stitches dissolving?? Im hoping thats what it is

Since you kept your ovaries then you'll most likely still have the same hormonal cycle and symptoms you had before the hyst. You won't bleed anymore, but the rest of the cycle will be largely unchanged so any premenstrual symptoms you had before will still happen. Sounds to me like your ovaries are wide awake and going about business as usual.

Don't know about the discharge though. Maybe it's the stitches dissolving? I remember reading here in several posts that that can cause foul discharge and odor. I'd call the doc and ask.
