Scared to have intercourse

I am new to this forum and am unsure how to do this so here it goes. I am 31 and had a LAVH on 10-22-10. I did not have any post-op bleeding after the first few hours and I was up and walking around in the hospital. I also have not had any discharge of any sort and I am going on 4 weeks this friday. I am not sure if this is normal or if it is a sign that something is wrong. Also, I have had the urge to have intercourse with my partner but I am terrified because I have read so many things that have gone wrong with others. My partner is scared that he will hurt me but for the last two weeks I have been fine, I have been doing housework and such, I have been keeping the lifting down to a min so that nothing happens. Also, I have only had minor jolts of pain running from my navel to my va-jay-jay while going to the bathroom. I called my Dr. and they said it was normal, but that was 2 wks ago when I called. Also, my doc said I could have intercourse after 4 wks and my partner wants to have it to, but we are both afraid. I am not sure what to do, I dont have my checkup with my Dr. until December 4th. We want to try for tomorrow since friday will be our 4 week mark, but I'm really unsure if I want to try or not.....can someone give me some advice on what to do

i am due for my check up this friday and that will be 5 weeks.most recommend waiting 6 weeks.i had to have an internal exam yesterday as i had a bad fall on monday...female gp and it wasn't so bad.
my other half and i have enjoyed outercourse(we had a very active sex life pre op) but even he is reluctant for the full works if i get my green light this friday.we are away for the weekend next week and may use that time with no chance of disruptions...just to see how things go.think the best i can advise is make sure you're ready,relax and take it very gently......hope this helps.....

thank you for your response, I appreciate your input. I think I'm going to call my Dr. today and see what he says. I have had many surgeries this year and had some issues with healing with only one of them and unfortunately it was the one right before my LAVH. I just hope that things are healing well and that I can enjoy an active sex life again. Take care and I hope your 5 wk check up goes well this friday.
