Just want my sex life back...

I had my hysterectomy 2 yrs ago when i was 24 due to uterine cancer. I still have my ovaries but continue to get cysts on them but not near as bad as pre-op. My hubby and i try to have sex on a regular basis but i stay very dry. We have used lubes but they are irritating me. It seems like inside stays uncomfortable. I dont think my libido is the problem- i want it more than he does. And its very hard to climax sometimes. Its so discouraging to be there and not be able to do anything. I try to reassure him its not his fault. Its like my body just doesnt want to respond. Also Sometimes i have really really bad pains while we are doing it. It feels like hes hitting the back and it sends sharp pains thru my entire abdomen and will be achy afterwards. I havent been back to the dr. I dont have insurance right now because im at a new job. Does anyone have any tips or advice?

Re: Just want my sex life back...

Hi,
Sorry you are having these problems.
I use Astroglide lube. We tried many of the other ones and they all seemed to burn so we have had much success with this. I believe there are other items out there for vaginal dryness that are not a lube. I think someone mentioned something called PEARLS...not really sure. And I think there are prescription meds. As far as the vaginal pain during sex, I had that as well accompianied with cramping. I just had a lap surgery for other complaints as well and it turned out I had adhesions to the vaginal vault as well as other areas. I am happy to report that I can finally have sex without pain for the first time in MANY years. Of course, this does not mean that this is your problem. I have read other posts where women end up with granulation this far out and are treated for it in the docs office. Since you do not have insurance maybe there are free exams offered. Call your local health department, maybe they could connect you with someone. I hope this has helped a bit. I'm sure other "veteran" sisters will be here with some advice for you.

Re: Just want my sex life back...

Chel there are low cost clinics that charge on a sliding scale based on income and free clinics. I would definitely want to get checked out. It could be many different things. I had pain during intercourse that was caused due to dryness. My ovaries were not working so I was not getting any hormones. I did use lubricants but I also used estrogen patches and was prescribed a vaginal estrogen cream. Seeing a doctor will help diagnose the problem. Good luck to you!

Re: Just want my sex life back...

I agree with october1 about the Astroglide...it is one of the best lubricants my husband and I have found...along with moisture beads, (like "pearls") which you can now get over the counter at about any pharmacy or super-store, etc. I have the issue of not being able to take RHT due to a genetic problem with blood clotting (found when I started taking birth control pills for irregular periods in my 20's) and having a familial history of breast/ovarian cancer. Hang in there and keep searching for what works for you.
