what's the most pain?? vag or stomach

Hi there,

I am having a Vag hysterectomy on Jan 7,2010 and just watched a video on how it's done. i was thinking the pain would be my stomach, but after watching i think my vagina is where all the pain would be. is there anyone out there who can tell me where the post op pain will really be. i have been researching everything and no one talks about the vagina pain.

I'll be wathcing this tread today. I too have done heaps of research and I am very curious as to what the pain is like and where the will be.

The pain I had after my TVH was like menstrual cramps. I never experienced any vaginal pain.

That's exactly my experience. No vaginal pain at all, only cramping and sometimes an abd pulling sensation. But not much pain, I didn't need narcs once I got home, only Aleve.

wow, that's wonderful to hear. i am so nervous about post-op pain.
thanks, you are all making this a little easier for me. i will be on this right up until my surgery date for more support.

For the first week or so I felt like I had a super super absorbent tampon up there although there wasn't anything. I guess that was swelling. But I can concur, NO actual vaginal pain. Abdominal cramps aplenty but nothing like what I was suffering before the surgery, so I didn't mind ;-)

So are we swollen alot down there??

I don't think the swelling is particularly bad - it was just a little uncomfortable for me for a few days - but I don't think every woman feels that. Depends how your own body reacts I suppose. I read somewhere on here that somebody needed an ice pack, but I've never experienced anything like that at all.

There was some swelling but it was not uncomfortable. All in all I found the experience way less painful than I expected.

that's good to hear. i watched the video on TVH and with all the pulling you look like you would swell down there.

I have a low tolerance for pain. I had my tubes tied with my c-section with my 3rd pregnancy and that was excrutiating pain for 1 full week
