Bladder sling recovery time?

On Nov. 1 I had a TVH, A&P repair, and a sling put in. I'm recovering from a UTI right now, been on antibiotics 6 days. I still feel like I have to go to the bathroom OFTEN, which is how I've been feeling pretty much since the surgery. It's ridiculous because I'll go, and I'm pretty sure I empty completely, then a little while later I'll take a sip of my tea or water and suddenly I feel like I have to go again. I have been drinking a LOT of water, cran juice, and herbal tea since the UTI diagnosis, so I know that could explain it. But it seems like I'm constantly feeling like I have to go and I'm frustrated.
For those of you who've had the sling, how long after surgery did you feel like it took before your body settled down and your urination process seemed "normal"?

Re: Bladder sling recovery time?

I had my repair on Oct. 25. For the first two weeks I felt like you are describing. Week three was less so and even less so week four. I am coming up on week five and still have some feelings of incomplete emptying and urgency. I also have some pain at the end of urinating. All of the pain has lessened as the weeks went by. I think you will feel better with more time.

My surgeon told me to try to go every two to three hours. I think it's like bladder "training". It's been helpful to me to do that. If I don't then I just think about it constantly and doing that doesn't help at all.
