Bladder issues
Hi everyone. I had my 2nd opinion and this gyn also agreed a full hysterectomy is in order. Now I have another issue; I've been having a problem going potty recently. Last week I had this same problem but it only lasted a day. Now it's been going on 2 days. I go, but just a little dribbles out so I was up all night trying to go. The gyn said it was probably from my enlarged uterus pushing on the bladder (that and maybe I think the fibroids). I have asked the gyn & the primary and no one seems to be able to help me. The primary's nurse said to ask the gyn for a UA but I'm bleeding right now and I can barely pee so can I do that? The nurse I have for my disabled daughter said to order some catheters and she would help me to go. It sounds ridiculous, but I don't know what to do. )o; Has anyone else had this problem? And what did you do about it?

Re: Bladder issues
I go every 20 minutes because I have a fibroid pushing on my bladder so there is very little room in there. It's hard to know what may be wrong in your case but a couple things come to mind...1. are you drinking enough water? Pain pills can really dry you out. 2. If you are going all the time and it's just a little bit you might be going thru the same thing I am. I'm on bed rest until my surgery so I just deal with running to pee all the time. I tell myself it's keeping me from getting bed sores or a blood clot. It's a pain to deal with but it will be over soon. I don't know if what I'm sharing is helpful but I do hope you know you are not alone and I hope you will get an answer soon. Good Luck and Best Wishes!

Thank you so much for your reply. It could be that I'm not drinking enough, last night I was scared to drink too much for fear I'd be in pain if I couldn't go. I have such a little bit coming out, plus of course, I'm bleeding too which scares me every time I go (not clots right now, just bleeding yuk). I do take a lot of motrin and a bit of hydrocodone (the pain at night is the worst in the back, not sure if it's from fibroids, the cysts of the uterus, or maybe all 3), I didn't know they dried you out, I'll try to drink a bit more, I just get worried when hardly anything comes out at all! I pretty much feel like I'm on "bed rest" as well right now, there isn't a lot I can do without tiring easily or feeling weak or just awful )o; Hope everything goes well for you too!

Re: Bladder issues
You are so welcome! I drink about 8 bottles of water a day. I've been a water drinker for years and I really notice the difference in how I feel if I don't get enough. Your body is like a big spounge and if you don't give it enough water it just retains it. Just like a new spounge will fill up before the water runs out the other side.

Re: Bladder issues
After a couple of days, clots came out and I started to be able to go again (not as much as I used to "pre-fibroids" but enough). This happened about a week ago. I'm scared it's going to come back! My primary was of no use. The nurse said to just "dribble in a pad" until the surgery. Not sure why, but for some reason the clots are making it so I can't go lately. I told the doctor but he says he's pretty sure it's not the fibroids (I still think it is)......oh well, hopefully this mess will all be resolved soon.

Re: Bladder issues
Hello! Have you thought about a urologist? I have several bladder problmes so I just have to keep an eye out. I've noticed a little bit of difference since my TAH (4 weeks post-op) so I am hoping the hyst alleviates alot of my bladder symptoms. I hope you find some relief!! Have they set a date for your surgery?

Re: Bladder issues
Thanks! They haven't set a date yet, it's in the works, I hope it's asap as I just started doing this bladder thing AGAIN this evening. This 2nd opinion doc wanted to do an endometrial biopsy first, I just want to do the hysterectomy and get it over with. Did you bladder problems start in peri-menopause? It seems everything started in peri for me )o; I also get palpitations and anxiety, which is completely annoying also, although it went away for some time but now that's back too. Hoping it won't affect the surgery.

Re: Bladder issues
Barb-I've pretty much much always had bladder issues. I had kidney reflux, stage 4, when I was 2 and had to have my ureters reimplanted. Fast forward and the lvoely endo adhered my bladder to my uterus, among other things! I had an Interstim implanted summer 09. My problem is frequency and urgency. I've also been told I have interstitial cysitis. (sp?) So...now it's a wait and see if the hyst is going to help baldder problems.
Sometimes adhesions can cause bladder problems. I think everything can cause bladder problems! Keep in touch on your progress! By the way, I just turned 32 so I was not prei yet.

Re: Bladder issues
Sounds to me like the clots were somehow pushing up on your bladder. Keep drinking your water!
PS, if you hate the taste of water put some Crystal Light in it.

Re: Bladder issues
Thanks. Yes, I think so too. I'm still surprised the doctor doesn't think it is! They always want to try to make it "worse" than it is by coming up with all of these things to scare you. I'll try the crystal light idea if the water gets too yukky (after drinking so much of it, it sometimes does). So far I'm okay (knock wood). I still feel drained, can't function very well and took some time off work until the surgery. One of the other things is the back pain at night, it's unbearable no matter what I take and hard to sleep well (sigh)....okay, enough complaining - lol.....
