Slipped and fell

Hi I had a TAH aug 26 due to fibroids recovery went fairly well as can be expected. Found resting to be a mixed blessing as I take care of everyone but me! Anyways returned to work after 6 weeks. I have a demanding position as a supervisor in a large retail store and pretty much am on my feet most days the majority of the day. I am probably overdoing it with lifting and all the work I do but i feel like I don't have much choice the way things are at work. I m sooo tired at the end of the day and find many days I just want to come home and cry from exhaustion. My husband has alot of serious health problems and needs me when I get home as he is unable to work at the moment due to health and can't do much to help around the house I know he would if he could. But it's the the tiredness and lack of energy and interest in anything that I find hard. Still have pain in upper abdominal area not severe but there.
But tonight I went outside and slipped on the snow and went flying back and landed on my bottom good thing it was snowpack not the cement.... But not feeling so great tonight. Could I have done any damage at this point in recovery after just 3 months? Or am I just feeling my usual did too much today I am concerned. Thanks

Re: Slipped and fell

I cannot comment on possible damage, but I did want to send out hugs. I'm sorry that you fell. Feel better.

Re: Slipped and fell

Bless your heart!...I can't respond to the damage, I do however want to encourage you to find a couple of dependable staff that work under your leadership to delegate to :-). HUGS

Re: Slipped and fell

I think you are doing too much...the fall is probably not too bad, but overall you need to delegate lifting etc to staff and be gentle on yourself

I don't know about damage either. I have to agree you're doing too much. Sending hugs & a prayer that things will get easier.

Re: Slipped and fell

you poor thing!!! OUCH!! Sorry to hear of your fall... I agree that most of your discomfort is probably from overdoing it at work... but, it wouldn't hurt to call the doc if you feel worse in the next few days. Better safe than sorry. BUT... I agree with the others that you really need to try to slow down a bit... you are only one person and you are still healing... I know I am not in your shoes to understand your situation, but I really just hate to see you run yourself down so much... Take care of yourself and try to slow down a bit... housework can wait!!!!! When it's all said and done.. people are not going to remember you by how clean or dirty your house was!

Re: Slipped and fell

Wow, hon, take it easy on yourself! In addition to delegating at work, delegate at home. Hire a young person with a shovel and some rock salt to keep your walks and driveway clear of ice and snow. Get someone to come in a couple hours a week to help with chores: laundry or cooking or cleaning or whatever, just to come in and get some stuff done. You need rest that you're not getting.

Re: Slipped and fell

Please take care of yourself! If you push too hard you will make it worse on yourself not be able to do the things that absolutely must be done. I agree to let slide whatever can slide and get some help from friends and family if you can't afford to hire to someone.

I am also concerned about the comment "But it's the the tiredness and lack of energy and interest in anything that I find hard." Have you considered that you could be clinically depressed? It sounds like there has been a lot going on and sometimes life events can trigger an episode of depression. I am on Zoloft. Also, you could be having some hormonal imbalances that should be checked.

Take care!

Re: Slipped and fell

Thanks everyone i know I m doing way too much but don't know how to stop. Sounds crazy I know but I can't sit still. I don't think I hurt myself luckily. I m going to try to slow down but want to put my tree up tomorrow however will get some help from my dd with that. Work not much choice but too remember that tomorrow is another day and that it will never be perfect.
I have suffered from depression since having post partum with my oldest child You r right that I m probly having another bout of it now. I will be back just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your kindness and caring. I need to go to bed
