Recovery with children? (children mentioned)

I am a sahm of 6. The older ones can take care of themselves but my little ones are nearly 3 years and 16 months. I will only have help for 2-3 days after surgery. I do not have anyone who can help me after that. My mom works and my husband can only get the day of surgery off and maybe one other day. I am having the di vinci and my doctor says that some of his patients are up and feeling great 3-4 days post-op. Anyone had to have this and then still have to take care of children right away?

Re: Recovery with children? (children mentioned)

My older kids are in school all day so they won't be much help. I have put out a request on my fb in hopes of finding someone to come take care of the little ones. I wish my husband could get more time off but he works for his dad and if they don't work, he doesn't get paid. I'm hoping to be able to somewhat care for the kids on my own by the next week. I do daycare for 1 little boy but the only day I have him after the surgery will be the 14th for just a couple of hours. My doctor gave me the impression I would be up and moving around normally in about 4 days. Ugh

the best advice I can give you is movies and coloring books I didn't want my kids watching TV all day but it sure helped after my surgery and gave us lots of snuggle time

It seems God works in mysterious ways. My surgery got cancelled but because of that it may be possible for my husband to be home all week after I have surgery. I am rescheduled for Dec 13th.

Re: Recovery with children? (children mentioned)

(children mentioned) I had a RALH. I have school aged children, but was able to take care of them by Monday. I had my hysterectomy on a Friday. My hubby is still taking them to school, however. I'm going to try driving on Wenesday. I'm 4 weeks post-op.
