Prolaps!? Ugh! (kids mentioned)

Ok, I had the scariest experiance last night. Yesterday afternoon I felt the most horrible pressure in my pelvic floor. I told my BF it felt like a fibroid was pushing out my butt. Then after I laid down last night I got horrible cramps and shooting pains. I went to the bathroom and it felt like I was giving birth and I could feel something inside my viginia. I felt inside and right where my cervix should be is a large smooth bulge. It's about 6 cm in diamiter! I freak out and started to cry. I didn't know what to do and I didn't want to go to the ER cause personally I'm so sick of the ER. All they ever do is give me more pain meds and send me home. So not wanting to waste another night at the hospital for nothing, I got on this site and looked up prolaps. It didn't seem to be an emergancy type of problem from what I read so I took another pain pill and went to bed and just suffered thru it until this morning. I called the doctor's office as soon as they opened and talked to the nurse. She said becuase my TAH is scheduled for next Wednesday the doctor won't do anything. She said if the pain gets really bad go to the ER, otherwise I need to stay in bed 24/7 cause gavity is going to be my worst enemy right now. Great! I've been on bed rest for weeks now. I will admitt I have been getting up more than I should have and going out shopping when I knew I shouldn't have. I would just take a pain pill and hurry thru my shopping. Now I can't get up unless I need to go to the bathroom. To top it all off my youngest daughter is sick and her asthma is acting up. She is 11 so she does know how to use her breathing machine and can make tea, but I feel so helpless in being able to take care of her like I normally would.
This has been one of my worst fears over the years. After 6 pregnacies, including 2 miscarriages I learned that this sort of thing happens to woman who have had many pregnacies. I feel so blessed to have my 4 children but now I'm paying the price. I'm so scared. I still have a lot of pressure and I started my period this morning too. I'm not due to have my period for another week. I can't use a tampon becuase there is no room inside to put it. This is freaking me out so bad. I'm wondering if anyone else out there has gone thru what I'm going thru. I could really use some advice or words of encouragement right now.

Re: Prolaps!? Ugh! (kids mentioned)

hi, Jen Lynn,

I've had a prolapse, not quite like yours, but it all started when I had a hard summer of asthma. All the coughing and not yet diagnosed so I didn't have meds. I was coughing my butt off -- almost literally. I've always had a "tipped uterus" and 3 pregnancies -- 2 home births, one terminated pregnancy. So my uterus has always been on top of my bladder. My first birth split my cerevix, to boot. So there's been years of occasionally painful sex when a bad angle caused my cerevix to split a little further.

All the insane coughing and I started having incontinence -- probably started the cystocele then. This past summer I joined an Aikido (martial art - self-defense oriented) class. I'd leak with every jumping jack, which is pretty embarassing. I wanted something other than a tampon for when I was on the mat and had my period, so I got a dixie cup. Trying it out, I didn't release the suction properly, and "sucked down" my cerevix into my vagina. I panicked, and saw my gyn. I don't blame the menstrual cup -- I was already having issues -- but in retrospect it was stupid to misuse it.

So I stopped Aikido, and scheduled my surgery in December (next monday!). No more jumping up and down, tumbling on the mat, etc. -- not until I have strenuous exercise clearance. I'm desperate to get back on the mat -- I love it! And I'm envious of my son who just passed his yellow-belt test.

Anyway, my prolapse gets a little worse every time I have an asthma bout, but it's not sounding as progressed as yours. I've been staying off heavy lifting and passing more heavy duty household tasks to my family since August -- so they already know the drill I'll just be a little more restricted after the surgery than I have been since the prolapse.

Hang in there -- you're in the home stretch. I'm going in 2 days before you are. We'll both be great!! Do a little less than you think you can do, and you'll be fine.

Re: Prolaps!? Ugh! (kids mentioned)

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I got so scared last night my crying woke my BF up. He didn't even know what to say, he had no idea what I was talking about. 7 more days! I can't wait. I wish it was tomorrow. From what I have read my fibroids are what is pushing my uterus out. I have so many and a couple really large ones that they moved my surgery up a week. I'm a very small frame and the fibroids are litterially taking over my stomach. I live for the day I no longer feel this horrible pressure and bloating.
