Post op -11 weeks and still cramping and pain

I had a davinci hysterectomy on Sept. 24, 2010 and I'm still having cramping in my abdomen that progressively gets worse during the day. The cramping/pain gets a little easier when I take tramodal. I am only able to go to work and then come home eat dinner and go lay down. My quality of life right now is really bad. HELP!

Re: Post op -11 weeks and still cramping and pain

First question... have you checked in with your doctor or nurse?
Can you relate the pain to anything in particular? Digestion or lifting, perhaps?

As other threads suggest, our bodies take a long time to get used to the new configuration of our insides.

But you should check with your doctor.

Re: Post op -11 weeks and still cramping and pain

I've met with and spoke with my doctor several times since surgery. I was having a bladder spasm problem so I took Urelle for 30-45 days post surgery. The best that I can tell my bladder spasm is gone but I still go to the bathroom every 45-60 minutes. My obgyn didn't want to refer me to a urologist (not sure exactly why) so I finally asked a friend who gave me a referrral - after several bladder tests - the urologist said my bladder isn't the problem. But, because he is only a urologist he couldn't figure out what is causing this pain.

Re: Post op -11 weeks and still cramping and pain

I am a little surprised that the urologist said nothing is wrong when you are going every hour or so. That doesn't sound normal to me even if you are still recovering from the surgery. Did he rule out IC? I only ask because I have it and it took my urologist 1 1/2 years with tests done to determine what I had. If your obgyn didn't give you an answer about the pain, I might ask for a second opinion.
I would also try to see if the pain is occurring at certain times and if there is something that makes it worse or better. The more you can relate it to what happened before the pain came and what helps and what doesn't that may help to determine what the cause if.
Sending hugs.

Re: Post op -11 weeks and still cramping and pain

my primary doctor "over the phone" said that I might have IC AND my obgyn who did the surgery was going along with that idea - I think only because she didn't want anything else to be the problem. Did your surgery cause you to now have IC? Can you email at <please use contact details within user's profile> a good IC diet link? I found one a few weeks back but I don't know how reliable it is? Thank you. Thank you! For all your help.

My second opinion Obgyn did a CT earlier this week and nothing wrong. So....he said the only alternative is to have laproscopic (sp.) surgery to see if there is scaring AND/OR to see if anything else is going on - so it's more exploratory. I REALLY REALLY DON'T want to do this but I've scheduled it - I don't want to do it because of the gas and the healing time - and, have to put ice on the incisions to heal, etc. etc. Lots of reasons to not do it......but, I've got to find out what's going on. HELP!!

Re: Post op -11 weeks and still cramping and pain

I am so sorry that you are having this much pain. It is horrible to have the pain be so bad when all you want to do it to heal. Unfortunately, I have also been there and done the testing which is why I am a little concerned. Is this the first and only test you have had to discover what the problem is?? If so, then I am a little puzzled as to why they aren't doing more testing before doing another surgery. I obviously don't know all that is going on so maybe there is a reason that doing a lap is what they feel is the best. I know that for me despite multiple problems with my recovery the one thing all my docs have said is that every time they open you up,the risk for adhesions is increased. I am not advocating living in pain but you did mention that you have abdominal pain. Did they refer you to a gi doc to rule out a problem there that doesn't require surgery? Sorry if I keep trying to have you avoid surgery but just some questions before you have it.
I didn't get the IC because of the surgery but I have had several flares since the surgery. Also had a lot of problems with my abdomen which is why I brought up gi doc. Sending tons of
