Inflammation/Infection and horrible gas

Hi,
Wow so glad I found this site. I am 45 yrs old and had a Total Laproscopic on Dec 9, 2010 at 10am. Was home that same night by 6pm. I was feeling great with little pain until Dec 15. Wed the 15th I felt like something hit me like a ton of bricks.. started running a temperature of over 100.8, loss of appetite, pain when peeing with little pee and just felt plain lousy. Went to Dr Friday and who sent me stat to hosptial for Pelvic CT scan and blood tests. Tests indicated alot of inflammation and some infection so I'm on two different types of antibotics. See Dr again on Monday morning. To add to all that..started having horrible gas pains last night. I was doing so well..a little discourage I took a turn the other way. Has anyone experienced an issue with post op inflammation/infection?

Also any advice for getting rid of the gas quicker? I've been rocking, can't take gas meds with my other meds, tried rubbing my stomach. Thanks so much in advance for your response.

Re: Inflammation/Infection and horrible gas

Hi Sarah,
So sorry to hear about your infection. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quickly, although they are probably making the gas problem worse. My hyst was on the 7th and today I am finally feeling better, although not great. Wish I had a cure for the gas. I used gasX and a heating pad which helped a little. Good luck, hope its better soon.

thanks Kat, I'll try the heating pad. Glad you are feeling better. I'm sure like you said once meds kick in and clear up the infection I'll feel much better.

I have sarah, I also had a Lap. but it was a partial. I had a catheter in for a week. I had the pain, sweats, and fever, nausea and blood.I also had a pus=like discharge that I assumed was related to the surgery. When I went in for an emergency appt, they told me my fever was high and that I had 2 different infections. I have been on 2 different antibiotics for a week and a half and have noticed that most of my symptoms including the pus-looking discharge has almost diminished. I was saturating 2 pads an hour. As some others have advised. Please have it looked at.
