Spotting seven weeks post-op

Hello all,
I had an abdominal hysterectomy on October 28th 2010. I had no bleeding or spotting until this morning. I had intercourse for the first time two evenings ago. Could this be the reason for the spotting and should I consider contacting my doctor?

If you have a vaginal cuff, the intercourse may have opened it up a bit. It wouldn't hurt for you to have it checked out by your doctor.

Thanks for the reply. I don't even know what a vaginal cuff is, so I don't think I have one.

What kind of surgery did you have? Did he take your cervix? If he took your cervix along with the rest of your uterus (the cervix is actually part of the uterus), then you would have a vaginal cuff. The cuff is the top of your vagina stitched together. If he did a partial/subtotal/supracervical (different names for the same thing) hysterectomy, then you would have kept your cervix and there would be no vaginal cuff.
