endo/adno no periods anyone else?

Hi I am new here and I am having my hysterectomy jan 26 2011. I can not wait. I am in so much pain. I was dx with endo in 2007. Now I have not had a period since 2009 but continue to have severe pain twice a month. I feel like I am 14 again. I have bleeding and pain with intercourse. So bad that my dh will not come near me. I went to the gyn (who I work for). They found 3 fibroids and cyst in the cervix, cysts on the left ovary and 3 clusters that they think is adno. My question is does anyone else with ando not get there periods anymore? My dr says that I am bleeding in the lining of my uterus. Any advise?

Re: endo/adno no periods anyone else?

I don't have any advice but I have always had messed up periods. At times I would bleed for 4 months straight while other times I would go months without ever having a period. And the pain was horrible. I was only dx with endo in Nov (by lap) but doctors suspected for years. The surgeon also suspects I have adenomyosis because my uterus is boggy. Add to that years of cysts...ugh. At times it's felt like a battle between me and my body.

Over the years my doctors have tried every form of birth control to regulate my body and help with the pain. Nothing has worked long term. I even did a couple rounds of hormones (that wasn't fun) but again, it helped short term only.

Good luck.

Thanks for sharing shellee. I guess I am lucky that I don't have to deal with the bleeding monthly. I could not imagine deal with that and the pain. Nancy46 are you counting down the days just like me? Some days I am counting the seconds. I can't even think of any else but getting rid of this pain. HA men are stronger than women....NOT.

Re: endo/adno no periods anyone else?

I've suffered with endo for six years and horrible periods, bleeding so much I flooded the place at times. I'm only two weeks out but let me just tell you, not being able to bleed anymore, ever, I LOVE it. Half the battle. Good luck with your surgery and I really hope this gives you great relief!

Re: endo/adno no periods anyone else?

Dear Brendalou,

I suffered in so much pain for 9 years with severe endo and adenomyosis on my ovaries, tubes and uterus. My periods were scant and I couldn't even sleep on my right side all those years. I finally have relief and feel great....since my surgery on Sept. 28th 2010. I understand the eagerness you feel. Believe me it will be well worth it once you've had your surgery. May you feel wonderful and I wish you much success with your upcoming surgery.

Sandra
