4 days postop SAH, all is well

Did this to relieve the mess my large fibroids were making of my life (the nym should give a clue). I went in the morning of the 28th fearing the worst...life-threatening complications, terrible pain, 4 days in hospital, long recovery. It's been no picnic, but I was out of the hospital the next day after surgery so needless to say I've been doing very well so far. As of yesterday (the 30th) I'm already reducing my pain meds! I write this to give hope to anyone who might be opting for this procedure, that it can be possible that things might not necessarily go as bad as feared. It might depend on your attitude when you go in...I was fairly anxious to have it done. Sometimes I think trying to get the lower GI tract going again after so much dilaudin was the worst part (no BMs for a long time, terrible gas pains with no relief). There's still some of that, but the worst of it was over as of yesterday. I could've opted for an embolization but finally decided I just wanted to get it over with once & for all (I'm 48). Tricking my body into thinking it was pregnant for the next several years didn't seem like a very good idea from several directions. So far, I'm pretty glad I did this.
