Had sphincterotomy and rectocele found that is all three , need advice

Hello , I had sphincterotomy just over two weeks ago. They discovered a Rectocele during the surgery. I had a huge fissure fixed , skin removed and scope . I now have been diagnosed with Enterocele , Cystocele and Rectocele with pelvic congestion syndrome.

My two week check up was pointless to say the least. No inspection of incision site. No blood work to see if previous infection had gone. Told me there was no cure for PCS. My enterocele is no big deal , they cystocele was like oh whats a little bit of leakage , but i will "maybe" call the gynecologist to see about getting my rectocele repaired.

I have been in bed for almost an entire year. I live in BC Canada and there seems to be no help for me. I went to see specialist in Vancouver who sent me home saying do the healing pelvic pain exercises . That did not work. Made things worse.

so then she wanted me to take lupron shots and i am refusing. I do not believe all my pain is from my ovaries or cysts or endo , that only happens in the last week of the month and first week of beginning month.

I can not walk far , sit or stand. I am so frustrated as this has ruined my life. Put a strain on my family life and I am still laying in bed in pain.

I have no idea what to do from here. This time last year i began working out. That is when all this happened. no way did i think i would be this way a year later.

I am sorry you are having so many problems. Why do they say they cant help you ? What is pelvic congestion ? I am not familiar with that term . I had cystocele , rectocele and uterine prolapse. I was in alot of pain and swelled up in all my lower extremeties. I had a hysterectomy and repair of the other two and it helped a ton. I don't know a lot about your health care in BC. Can you go for another opinion?

hi Denise , i have been to about five different doctors. pelvic congestion is a problem with the way your blood flows through the pelvic area. It all pools in and around my vagina so that is where the swelling comes from there. I guess it is almost like varicose veins . Pelvic Congestion Syndrome apparently can not be fixed as i am told.

When i searched about it online and in fact there are some fixes , I am not sure if it is just for the states or what.

I know doctors can fix all my celes , so not sure. I think I need to change family doctors.

I'm so sorry you are having such problems. Do you think it's because of the prolapses you mentioned? Do you want them repaired? If so, I would also seek out another opinion, too.

I hope you find the help and relief you seek.

Hello Orahdeb , I believe the prolapses contribute for sure. If I am laying down a lot of the time it is good . Unless I have a Bm or many. So getting up and walking around or anything really i get so sore in my lower abdominal and lower back and vagina. This also happens when i have a bm. Thinking the rectocele?

I understand your frustration.
Not sure if this would apply to you, but I know, and several doctors have agreed, that with my issues, unless everything is fixed at the same time my issues will continue to recur. The only problem is, with the insurance I have, I can't get to the correct "team" of specialist.
I don't relish the idea of another surgery. I don't do well with anesthesia or pain meds.
I know my next surgery will have to be a team. One to remove the hernia mesh and "refix" the hernias with bio-identical material and fix the new hernias. No mesh, my body doesn't adhere to it. The adhesions will have to be removed from my intestines & lots of barrier put in. The second one will have to fix the cysctocele and probably redo the sacrocolpopexy. And one will have to repair the rectocele and probably remove part of my sigmoid colon. My insurance only does the absolute minimum, unless it is life threatening. I guess bowel movements aren't important!
I keep trying different ways to help myself. I am working my way through this. I am looking at having to go back to work. DH doesn't fell he should be financially responsible for everything and I am running out of savings ( haven't been able to work for 3 years).
As I try things, I find some that work and some that don't. Even though I have days where I get to the bottom of the pit, I keep trying. Somewhere out there is the answer to the problem. I will find it and you will to.

Thank you for the response. I will keep trying to find someone to fix me. I really just want my cele's fixed. My family doctor says there is no way these three things cystocele , enterocele and rectocele are not causing any of my pain. But how is that possible when I get out of bed and walk around it hurts. the pressure and the feeling that everything is going to fall out.

I was told it was my PCS that was causing my pain and there is no cure for that . So going to have to find someone who will help or try and get help for me. See usually ladies have these types of things fixed with a hysterectomy , where as i am opposite . Mine developed after my hysterectomy.

All I know is this has ruined my life , one of my son's has gone to live with his dad due to my medical condition and him having medical condition that needed more care and attention than i could give because of my situation.

All i do is lay in bed and have horrible thoughts , not happy , cheerful , or optimistic . Just lay here day in and day out.Thanks for your thoughts much appreciated .

My dr told me the three cele's I had were not causing my pain either. POPPYCOCK!!!! The whole lower half of my body was swollen and I hurt. Has he ever had this- dont think so. I had my 3 cele's fixed and it stopped my pain. In my non-medical opinion it seems worth a try. Could all the prolapses not be causing the congestion ? Sending you healing thoughts and prayers. Hello , I asked the doctor if one of my celes could be causing the blood flow issue and he said he didn't know. I think he doesn't know a lot of things. Seems I am the first patient ever that has had these issues . I am not sure what to do at this point. I guess I will be making some calls tomorrow , thanks so much for the reply
