Episiotomy with TVH

I had a TVH with A&P repairs and wondered does everyone have an epi. with a TVH? Or do you only have one if you are having repairs like I did. This epi. feels totally different than the one I had when I had my son. Is the cutting on the perineum a little more involved than a regular epi.? Is it deeper into the tissue or what? I am having a terrible time with sex and it still feels "stiff" down there.

Episiotomy with TVH

The stiffness will go away! I had mine about the same time as you! Dr said it would help massaging the are with a little KY jelly a few times a day-------gently!!
Yes, the epi we had with kids is much different. With the epi, they don't take any extra tissue, they don't cut up as far or as deep. They just sew us up! Of couirse it does vary depending on the extent of the repairs needed.
My psoterior repair was extensive so I had the stitches almost all the way up to where the cervix used to be. I had a lot of prolapse and a lot of rectocele. The bigger the bulge, the more tissue they need to take.
They actually do more cutting on the back wall of the vagina then they do the perenium, for a rectocele repair.
If you would like to see how it looks when it is repaired go to
www.pelvicfloor.com and click on the pictures he has of different procedures. You will see pictures of both the anterior and posterior repair. WARNING_VERY graphic! Not for the faint of heart!
Let me know how it goes. Massage helped the stiffness for me the most!
Love and hugs...write me sometime!

Episiotomy with TVH

Dear Frani,

When I was pre-op, my doc planned to do A&P repairs. He sketched the episiotomy cut on a medical drawing... it was sorta U-shaped; a gynecolological smiley of sorts?

As it turned out, I didn't have the A&P repairs, so I had no episiotomy. Hope this info helps

Episiotomy relief

I had a TVH on 10/30/01 and did NOT have an epi but I just talked to a friend of mine who had a full episiotomy and she said the best thing for relief is Olive Oil!! She said it sounds weird but it works incredible.

Good luck everyone,
Ethel
