feeling blue

I feel so confused. I keep thinking maybe I don't really need this surgery, maybe I can stand the 14 day to 30 day periods and the pain is not so bad. I've done it for a while. My emotions are running amok. I cry at the smallest thing.

I really know that I have to go through with this. That's why I'm so glad I got a quick date (only 2 weeks after I made the decision) But still I keep wavering in my mind and a whole week to go, waiting is definately hard.

I'm so glad that I can write here because I know you all understand and and you are all so supportive.
I am the oldest of nine children, 8 of us girls. I wrote them all an e-mail to tell them of my upcoming surgery, not one responce. I live in California and they are mostly back in Wisconsin. I suppose they are scared for me and themselves since I am the oldest but I wish they would-- oh well my 3 kids and husband have been great. And soon it will be over.

Sorry I'm feeling so blue today I think I do better when I'm at work no time to think.

Hi! Sorry about you feeling so blue. I went through the same thing I really backed out at least 2 times a day. I like you knew I must go through with it but all the ifs come in to play. But each time I thought of a reason not to have the surgery I thought of the pain and bleeding I would not have each month, the funtions I could go to and not have to schedule around the dread PERIOD each month. Now I each month when I sail through with out all the pain etc. it will be fine and God Bless you and send his s for comfort. As for your sisters maybe they will be with you yet. Take the comfort from your kids and DH. Good luck and feel the comfort from all the hystersisters.

Hi SV!

I'm sorry you are feeling blue!

Know that you do have time to think more about it, and that you can change your mind if you decide this is not for you. It sounds like you have made up your mind, but may be a little nervous about it -- trust me, everyone gets nervous about having this surgery.

Your brother and sisters may not know much about hysterectomy, and they may just be at a loss for words right now.

Don't despair, sweetie! You have really come to the right place for support and understanding.

Hi svsister,
The decision is always a difficult one and the waiting is even harder, even when you know it is the right thing to do. I had 3 months of a roller coaster of emotions to try and back out. But it gave me time to really get used to it. I cannot imagine getting my head around this in 2 weeks - no wonder you are feeling sad and out of sorts. It sounds very normal to me.
Other people do not realize what an emotional surgery this is for us women. Hang in there, and keep on coming back to the site. There are lots of us to help you through, and there are chatlines to talk to other women going through this. We are all here for you,

Me too!

I'm scheduled for this Thursday and want to back out. I'm worried about everything. But then I think...this time next week and I'll be on the road to recovery. I'm in California also...Hey! maybe we'll be room mates!

I hate this waiting though. I'm worried about everything. So know you are not alone okay.

My thoughts and prayers are out there for you and everyone on this site!

Hang in there you two..... I had very bad days especially when I was feeling good - felt guilty about removing body parts that weren't killing me Fortunately for me, the dreaded (.) showed up 2 days before castle and I was ready to go immediately! Unfortunately, I couldn't take any drugs for it - arghhh. I am verrrrry happy I did this and I hope you will be as well... sending you LIW's big s and wishing you all the best - see you on the other side
